They are filming it near where I work. Newark and Bayonne NJ.
They gave a friend of mine 500 hundred bucks to build a slightly smaller exact replica of his auto repair shop, which im told will be a main buildinfg in the movie. So when ya see the Name Harrington's auto repair in the movie, thats it. They wanted to blow it up but the NY NJ port authority police won't allow it. Since it is so near a major nyc bridge. So instead the explosion of the building will be computer generated. I even tried to get part as extra, but didn't get it. Guess Tom was intimitdated by my good looks and didn't want to be upstaged.

Shut up, Tom Cruise is superhot and has the face of an angel.  Those eyes, that jawline, such skin!

Oh no, not again...  I'll be back in 3 or 4 minutes after I take care of some business.

Hmmm... British sci-fi is generally ruined by American actors. HG Wells will probably turn in his grave.

Not scifi, but the story of the 1912 Titanic disaster was ably told in the 1958 movie "A Night to Remember".  The DiCaprio/Winslet version, "Titanic", was an embarrassment.

Tom Cruise? LOL - I'll never forget the cringeworthy scenes of that helicopter being flown through the Channel Tunnel. :lol

But admittedly, he was great in "Born on the 4th July". I've just bought the DVD to replace my VHS. What stood out (for me) was the way America lavishes hundreds of billions of $ on a war effort, but then abandons its disabled servicemen to 4th rate hospitals when they come home, and to appeals for voluntary donations run on boards like this. I wonder how they'd feel on their way out if they'd be returning missing a limb or two, and that their wellbeing might be dependent on money trickling in through PayPal. :(

I prefer the Orson Welles version.
Sort of a radio version of Airhead.

Some great British movies fugged up by remakes.

1) The Italian Job - Of course set in the US lol.
2) Dr Who - Sorry Paul McGann just didn't cut it.
3) Titanic - Why let the facts get in the way of a story.
4) Add War Of The Worlds - (probably)
5) Heard a nasty rumor Hollywood is remaking the Battle of Britain, I bet Sydney Camm and RJ Mitchell are already spinning in their graves.

Feel free to add to the list.

I thought Tom Cruise was going to be in a movie about the American pilot Billy Fiske flying for the RAF in the Battle of Britain?

Is this movie still on??
Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.
