Ki-84 aileron trim isn't nuetral.

The Ki-84's aileron trim starts off a few ticks over to the right.

Karnak problem with AH2 is you don't have a seperate trim tab on your surfaces like you would on real aircraft of this time period.

Without having a rigging manual for any specific bird on here it would be hard to determine whether or not the ailerons themselves were rigged to absolute neutral.  Because of aerodynamics and torque on these airframes they may not have been exactly on neutral.  They may have had the option to rig neutral and counter torque and aerodynamic affects purely with the trim tabs themselves.  That all depends on the airframes aerodynamics, torque and trim tab abilities.

I would think that if in combat trim HTC would have input the basics so folks wouldn't have to fight taking off if they are incorrectly trimmed.  They may even have that basic trim set regardless if your in combat trim for the exact same reason.

Cobra412,

What I mean is that the little marker in the cockpit for the aileron trim is not centered at default with Combat Trim off.  I'm not talking about whether or not the aircraft is trimmed for stable flight.

When it is centered the Ki-84 does roll from torque, but right now it starts several ticks over to the right and you have to have significant stick input to counter it.

I'm just asking for all the markers to start centered.

cc Karnak.  The worst thing that could happen is HTC would say no.  I'd think that since combat trim is an item that is made to help folks out that it could be disabled and all items set to neutral.  New folks could have it on and folks who don't like it would start completely neutral.

How is that a Ki-84 problem?  It is that way in every plane in AH.

I personally would prefer that you can SET a custom default trim setting for every plane, just like you do head positions.  So each plane, you set the trim tabs to where  you want them to be when the plane takes off, instead of whatever generic setting they use now, and it will save it.

Doubt it will happen, but anyway, your gripe is not specific to Ki-84.  Its also not a bug as far as I know, or if it is, its one thats been here for a long time.

I don't think I'm getting across here.

I'm not talking about Combat Trim and I'm not talking about having the aircraft trimmed to a neutral point by default.

It used to be, prior to Patch 5, that all the trim markers started exactly in the middle of the trim indicators.  In Patch 5 the aileron marker starts about a third of the way to the right side of the trim indicator.

I haven't tested other aircraft in Patch 5, but I know that in earlier patches they too had the trim markers centered in the trim indicators by default.

Karnak, do you mean that previous to patch 5, if you got in any plane, doesnt matter what it is, the trim markers would be exactly centered?  Rudder, Aileron and Elevator?

Because I have NEVER had even 1 of these be centered on takeoff since I first fired up AHII.  NEVER.  It has nothing to do with patch 5 (at least for me).  Either you and I are playing different games, or you have a secret I dont know about that lets you start off with your markers centered.  If someone can manage to tell me how to do this I would be very grateful as I find it a pain in the arse to sit on the runway and center them manually before takeoff.

Turn off Combat Trim?

I dont use combat trim.  Dont use auto takeoff.  Dont use anything to automatically set anything except when I'm climbing for a long distance.  And that doesnt set at takeoff.

I will admit there are a few planes that are CLOSE to center, but its usually the aileron marker thats off to the right.  On other planes both the rudder and the aileron markers are off to the right.  And every single plane I get into has over 80% elevator up, most are at the top limit of the marker.

Its a pain in the rear.  If there is a file that controls trim settings for each plane, and anyone knows it and how to edit it, I'd be grateful if you'd share.

I have no idea what you mean by default, the trim markers are set for take off when you put the airplane on the rw and they are set for straight flight in ah2 model when you take it out of autopilot.
What do you refer to as "default" setting?
Do you use up fuel tanks with manual select?

What I mean by "default" is exactly that.  Where the markers are when I launch from the tower and I am sitting on the runway staring at the instruments of whatever plane I am flying.  I dont takeoff with autotakeoff enabled.  And the settings that are there when you takeoff are NOT "properly set for takeoff".  Some have more pronounced problems than others with the default settings, causing the airplane to roll to one side (usually right) and crab sideways as if I were using the rudder.  Takeoff in a Ki-61 and when you hit between 170-200 mph turn on the auto trim.  Better not be too close to the ground when you do it.  Also notice how hard it is to control the plane from takeoff until the point where you turn on auto trim and it corrects the settings from where they were at takeoff.  I dont FLY with autotrim on, but I do use it sometimes as a quick sort of "reset switch" type thing to get the plane close to a neutral trim quickly and then make minor adjustments from there to get it comfortable.

I am using the Ki-61 as an example because it reacts the most violently, and because it is the one that comes to mind right away to demonstrate what I am talking about.
