The Danish Center for Research Analysis lists Norway in last place in most of the parameters in its latest report on research in the region, Forskerforum reports.

Norwegian researchers are least quoted in international journals, Norway has the lowest state and industrial research effort, the fewest number of people working in the field, the fewest doctorates and the fewest patents.

Anyone else find this interesting? Oil is their main income and after the oil is gone in about 20 years, they may have to learn to work to support their welfare state. It may take time, but I  am sure they will be okay.

Oh... I had you pegged all wrong then.

You must be keenly interested in the field of research, is that it?

why would you say that, Nash?

I'm just expanding my horizons and learning about other nations. You know, getting news from sources other than FOX news and all.

That you'd wind up on an obscure Norwegian website that has an article on that country's failings in the world of research, then come here and tell us all about it, is just a wee bit suspect.

Am I off base?

Why is Norway news considered "obscure" ? Just being open minded and all.

Did you know that the average rainfall of Botswana amounts to about 450 mm per year?

It's a fact!

Take it!
