Meanwhile back at the ranch while you're trying to catch up with some training I'd suggest picking out a plane that suits you and staying in that plane for a while. Spits, Zeke and N1K2 are good beginner planes. Changing planes will mess you up as they all handle differently and have different strengths and weaknesses. Its hard getting ONE down cold let alone a whole stable of em!
Staying with one plane is good for developing SA or Situational Awareness which is really the most important "skill" you'll learn. The "flying" part starts to become more of a second nature with a little time and practice. But the SA part--the "thinking" part is most important. (You've got to think in 3 dimensions--quickly--to be successful. It can be learned but some guys are just better than others.)
As those flying reflexes start to develope you'll find you're more able to keep track of what's going on around you and have to think less about what your plane's gonna do. Kinda like driving a car. Ya don't think about hittin the brake or the gas or turnin the wheel after a while--ya just do it. But that takes a while. Once ya develope a decent level of SA and can keep better track of what's goin on you'll generally get shot down a lot less. Be patient. After ya get to that point its easier to make the transition to other planes.
Keep in mind you're gonna get killed repeatedly for a while. Funny as it sounds its actually part of the learning process in flight sims. Film things a lot. Watch the films. See what you did wrong to get killed and what the other guy just did right to kill you. That helps a lot. Stick with it. Good luck.
