Wulfe, there's two types of conservative posters here- those that talk the talk and those that walk the walk.
People like Rude, Toad, Maverick, Mielta, AKIron, Lazs and many others have developed their conservative POV based upon their life's experiences, and I'd believe without question what they say... these are honorable, good honest men, and I can disagree with them without disrespecting or disliking them. They walk the walk.
OTOH the "talkers" like to post about situations where they are on the front lines of the War on Liberalism, so they scour the Internet looking for more aggregious examples of "liberal assault," photographs showing what they claim are mainstream Democrats chained to trees, articles condemning liberal thinking, etc....
And the "talkers" don't discuss issues, mostly because they haven't taken the time to study the issues- so they resort to name calling and personal character attacks. They believe liberals are evil, so if anyone disagrees with their narrow view of a black and white world then they explain it away by dismissing you as less than them, or crazy, an America Hater, a troll... How do you respond to "You hate America" or "You want to see America defeated in Iraq?" You don't- in fact, you can't, because if you say "Wait a minute, I served honorably" then they claim you're bragging.
Take what these conservative talkers say with a grain of salt- they are so fervent in their search for Liberal Wrongness they uh....sometimes embellish.
And take what the conservative Walkers, those who are principled men who believe in honor, to the bank. And understand that neither the left nor the right has a monopoly on character, principles and honor.
Just because we think it's OK for men to marry men doesn't mean we on the left lacy morality.
