Need advice from Americans

Ok I'm going to Ameerika for three weeks at the end of december. I'm going to be in NYC and Florida. I could use some advice on the following things:

I'm going to buy some computer stuff. What would be a good and inexpensive store? I went to CompUSA last time and their prices were not that good.

I need to buy pilot overalls, what would be a good place for that?

I think I'll visit some aviation/military related sights. So far I've been thinking about the Intrepid and the Kennedy space center. Any other suggestions?

Any other suggestions what to do and see, not excluding drinking and partying?

Any do not's?

The Kennedy Space Center is a must. Plan for an entire day; check the bus schedule to get out to the Saturn V assembly area after the Imax thing. Rent a car no matter where you fly into Florida and stay in Cocoa Beach at a good hotel on the beach, just not Orlando. Believe me, hotels will cost the same, be way nicer, and you won’t have to think America is one long line of huge African American women waiting in line at 8:00am juggling a 20 plate of free bagels in the hotel lobby.  

Then skip New York and fly into Reno. Go skiing in Tahoe, leave some state tax dollars downtown after a $7 steak and eggs, and see a show or 2.

I got to go to NYC as that was the only destination I could get 400$ flights to.

There's a Delta II launch scheduled on the 1/8 at Kennedy. Do you think that it's a good day to visit or is it overcrowded? Is it possible to have a good view of the launch without buing a ticket?

Don't buy a ticket. There are a few guys here that live in Florida and can tell you the beach to go to see the Delta launch. I do know it's near where the cruise ships dock, NOT anywhere near the Space Center.

I actually have the map of the pads, but would have to find it and scan it in, but that's pry not going to happen. Pry be better you get their input or google it.

The problem is that I don't have an adress where to order. Also I wouldn't want to run around for different components. It would be great to find a store where all the stuff is relatively cheap.

I just find the one with the most expensive component cheapest and hardball them into price matching the lowest bids on the rest of the parts to get the whole order.  That way I get everything cheapest with one shipping price.  With NY taxes you won't find much particulary cheap there.

Fry's Electronics

Unfortunatly the closest one to me is in San Bernadino but they tourture us weekly with their adds of $45 Hard drives and $89 Gig sticks of RAM.

I'm not sure if they have those on the east coast or not.  Some alternatives to CompUSA are Best Buy, Circuit City, and Staples.

if you are stayning in NYC for anyamout of time. Your going to want to stay on the Jersey side of the Hudson river. The hotel rooms are twice the size and half as much.  Also don't walk around looking up tis is the pickpocket season.  Besides that there are two other scams that run rampant around christmas in the NYC metro area. Dont buy any electronic products off the street the box usually contains wet paper. And dont make change for anybody on the street unless you carefully inspect the bill they give ya. The scam is to cut the corner off higher denomination bills and glue it to the corner of a one dollar bill.

Other than ythat NYC is very nice this time of year.

Lastly dont drive. Christmas time in Manhatten is gridlock central,
you'd end up spending your whole vacation trying to drive 2 blocks.

And New years eve in times square is over rated, 1 million people and no bathrooms, fun times.
