Spit 1 (spin bug?)
« on: December 14, 2004, 08:48:12 AM »
Was goofing off in a Spit 1 in MA and ran across some curious behavior.   Loop a spit 1 repeatedly until you get too slow to make if over top of last loop and engine dies due to negative G's.  The Spit 1 will lock solid on current head, remain inverted, and eventually land on it's roof (still pointed the same way it was when the engine quit).

It is not a flat spin (in the traditional sense) but your controls are locked out like you are in one.  The plane remains on exact heading as when you entered and doesnt vary one bit.  Maybe this is how flat spin is modeled in AH I dont know?
