No, bud.

It's too late for your excuses.

This apartment dwelling big city boy is about to kick your arse.

Pick the time and the place. And guess what? You get to bring a gun.

And one of your friends....

But the deal is... Your friend has to stand within 3 feet of me.....

So am I to understand that you can't shoot the big deer.....just the little one?  and you are supposed to defferentiate between the two in a split second?

EDIT:  Also after a visit to http://www.perlitzranch.com it seems that this was a setup hunt.  What I gathered was the guy in the truck was probably one of the employees of the ranch or something and was pissed off.

Does having a larger buck help for breeding other deer to hunt?

Okay that's the thing...

"A split second"?

Like - it's charging you and it's a life or death call? Shoot or be trampled?

If there is a law like that, then... if you can't identify it in a split second - if that's all you have - I'm guessing that it's best to just not shoot until you can identify it?

Call me crazy....

The deal on those ranches is you pay for the size buck you shoot. Its private land and you pay the ranch for room board and all dead animals. I went to their website, 9000 acres and they dont even list the prices for deer, you have to call.

A deer that size, maybe 130-140 class deer is prob gona cost that man around $4K. Depends on the outfit but it could be higher. If he was there to shoot a smaller buck then he could be looking at $2k. Sounds like they werent the typical high rollers that visit those places.

that would explain the "break out the checkbook" comment

Nash I'm not a hunter by any means.  I figured the deer get spooked easily and you got to hit them before they run off.

Geesh just to hunt dove or quail there its like $600

After just a very small amount of looking...I think it cost him about 12k for killing that deer.

Here , we have Managed Game ranches. So , when you pay to hunt there you are allowed to kill certain size deer. Older deer , with what would be smaller racks ,(even though they are still nice size). They try to keep the younger deer with the BIG racks on the ranch for breeding of the Does so that when the HIGH rollers want to kil a trophy they have them. It also helps with the breeding in making the deer bigger and stronegr and nicer racks.

Anyway that numbnut shot a trophy that was probably 3 or 4 years old. BIG NO NO.

I haven't been to one of those ranches. I have always hunted at a lease , where you pay for the season and get you limit and thats that. Hard for me to hunt like those guys.

Get taken to your stand where your SURE to see a deer.

Drinking Beer and stuff.

Get picked up by a guide....Just seems a bit "Soft" to me.

I figure that deer prolly dressed at maybe 100 pounds. and thats a BIG maybe. So..it was 120.00 a pound for that meat:rofl

ANd no matter HOW long you boil those horns:rofl ya cant get em soft enuff to eat:rofl
