Feeble tracers
« on: December 14, 2004, 10:29:25 PM »
Can't see tracers since the beginning of AH2.  They sort of dim out into the distance (and this is without anti-aliasing)..

as opposed to (for example) these clear-cut, visible tracers, as they used to be on my machine before AH2:

ATI X800P
PIV 2GHz
512MB of 2700 DRAM
WinXP Pro SP1
Audigy2
Latest DirectX and drivers for all hardware.
DxDiag dump

supposed to be this way so as to allow the runners who have a little distance survive long enough to reach ack/horde.

i.e., no more 800 yd sniping wunderkills...
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.
I'm not perfect, but I am closer to it than you are.

Half the time I seem to see no hit sprites, yet the bogey explodes.

that is also a nod to the "15,000 yd kill!!!" whiners who felt that the hit sprites gave too much feedback.

The last shot is from Waffle, you can see the difference between his tracers and mine.

It'd be cool if Sudz read this, actual glowing (pixel shader or fake glow) tracers as they were irl would really be better.

Actual colors for each ammunition'd be neat too.

Remember in AHI where the tracers were more defined like in the osti and the CV guns.

Now you can just make them out .

I have a hard time seing them zoomed in at 1024x1024, at 1600x1200 they seem a little better. I would agree maybe brightening up a bit or enlarging the further distance tracers abit -Least for ground mounted guns / gvs
