I had mine done about 6 years ago. hardly any pain except for the needle and ripping off the tape that held my fun stick to my stomach. After that I sat in a chair for a day and had my wife wait on me which is a switch. :D I had no swelling whats so ever and had just some minor aching.

Make sure you get a doctor who has done a bunch of these. mine had done about 1200 before he got to me.

Had mine done 8 years ago this coming January.
I took 15mg of Tranxene, drove myself the 80 miles to the clinic, watched em prep me, tape the fun stick to my stomach, had to make the doc raise my head so's I could witness him clipping the second cord.  The wife had her head laid on the table I was laying on so she wouldn't pass out....lol!  
Not much pain, not until about two hours afterward, when I got home.  And the pain wasn't THAT bad....Advil 800mg and I was  fine, that and an ice pack.
Back to work the next day, with just some minor discomfort from time to time over the next week.  Kinda like, if I moved too fast or too rough, it felt like I had bumped the jewels against something, but nothing drastic or agonizing.
Suck it up, get it done.  
No decrease in my libido (to the disappointment of the wife) or functionality.  
I did get to kid her alot about having a popup flag inserted to say "BANG!" since all I was doing anymore was shooting blanks.........:D

I laughed so hard reading the other V thread. Reading those brought some pain too...

Short Story...
Playing street hockey in neighborhood. We let some girls play, cause you know had to show off. I had 4 girls on my team, then myself and the goalie. Well after about 20 minutes of play, one of the girls decides to take her luck at a slapshot. It was a perfect "goal post" shot, if you get my drift. Boy, pretty hard to act macho between barfing and watering eyes. She made up for it later, she felt bad.

You will notice no difference at all.

the only "problem" I came across was a few days after the procedure when I was coaching Pop Warner to 7-8 year olds and was working on some line drills and blocking methods with one of em and he accidently punched me in the groin.

My son. knowing what I had had done thought it was hillarious and proceeded to tell EVERYONE why he thought it was so funny.

Other than the numbing The other worst part about the thing was him pulling on the cords, I could feel it in my stomach.
