(According to a book I bought at a British equavalent of CVS for 1 pound)

- two 20mm cannon & four .303 mgs
- 105 Mk I and 95 Mk II models built
- a whopping maximum speed of 305 mph
- what looks to be a terrible rear view
- says it has "good low-level agility"

....  I'd fly it :)

Did this actually see any combat at all or was it only used for training purposes?

This books pretty cool actually, nothing fancy though.  Each page is devoted to a different plane, over 600 in total.  It's called "Fighting Aircraft of the World", and for basically $2, I couldn't go wrong.

It saw combat.  Mostly as a support aircraft, but some air-to-air as well.

Id also love to fly this plane, And always hoped it would be modeled one day down the track. There have been several posts about this subject before, yet usually gets hijacked somewhere along the way with what plane someone else would like to see in the game.  Maybe its time to get your money out of those plans pyro; we've been waiting patiently since you posted that in Feb. 2002

I bought some out of print references that I stumbled across on the Boomerang awhile back. I plan to get my money out of them someday but I doubt it will be anytime soon.

Thanks for the pics, LSJ, that is a really sharp plane.  I'd definately give it some time if they modelled it down the road.

Aussie Beaufighter? now THAT would be awesome.  P-38 like firepower + 3 hispano's LOL
I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

A less capable Mossie.

That said, add it.

I geuss not all of us feal the need to be in the most capable plane, Or to keep addin these later war monsters. That said id say there are several other planes already as useless or worse.

There was a post somewhere of HiTech mentioning that he had Data on the Boomerang. I'm not sure if he was joking or not.

Well, the Mossie surely outperforms the Beau, no dispute.
Except perhaps in ruggedness. But that may be an AH issue.

Still, the Beau came earlier (Scenarios and such), and carries a torpedoe if needed.

Bear in mind that when the Beau was airborne, the US had not entered the war, the most dangerous daylight opponent was a 109E, and in spring 1941 the thing was flying with radar at night.

4 Hizookas, a variety of ordnance, and what, 316 mph?
Some planes could be traided out for that.

Go jump a CV from far with a torp, you still have a deadly nosepack after launching....
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

'twas a North American AT-6 derivative and it turned like a frightened angel.  It saw service with 5 Aussie and 2 Kiwi squadrons in New Guinea and it aquitted itself well enough as our highly competent and competetive Australian cousins always do.

I guess the Zeros would have something to zoom  But i believe they didn’t like to tangle with the boomers because of there agility and swift low level climb. That being a reason why they where adapted to support roles.  The enemy where known to run, A squadron also claim to have chased a few betty bombers away also. Everyone says its not competitive and it wouldn’t be if your the type to Boom n Zoom but i could see some fun to be had in a furball. An aussie modified beu would be nice but a fully built Australian ride would be the best.

ps... Who do I need to bribe an how much

Boomerang would be a neat and unique addition.  If HTC has the needed data it would be a fun aircraft for Pacific setups.

So would the Beaufighter.

My point about the Beaufighter wasn't that we don't need it because the Mossie is better it was that comparing it to a P-38 is a used car salesman tactic.  The P-38 makes the Mossie look like crap and the Mossie is better than the Beau.  The firepower on the Beau is most accurately compared to the Mossie and the role is as well.

I'd advert it as an early war Mossie that is much tougher.
