Ahhh yes niknak, but unless you have suffered from depression, you cannot fathom the joy of being out of it either.

I'd rather be depressed than hungry.

I knew that,  which is why I linked you with Switzerland. Thanks to your OIL. A small country with OILl, you'd have to be rich.

The only Norwegian business I can think of is Statoil and then only when I drop in for my Lutefisk sandwish and to fill up with a tankfull of quality Norwegian unleaded.  If you didn't have oil what would you sell to the world. I honestly can't think of anything Norwegian.    I'm not being sarcastic. I actual can't think of anything famously Norwegian.  Like Irish whiskey or German cars or French wine.  ?????

GS, how's your socialized health care like in your country? In US, i always hear (from so-called experts) that if they adopt socialized health care (also part of Kerry's plan) they say its gonna be expensive and have lo-quality than private ones like Kaiser pernamente (or even HMO)

I don't know about Norway, but here in Spain socialized healthcare is great if you get something really bad, but sucks for the small stuff.
For example, if I want my eyes checked to get new glasses, I'll go private and have them checked tomorrow instead of waiting 4 months in the public system, but If I need a kidney transplant, I know I'm getting it as soon as humanly possible at no cost.
The costs of private insurance with decent coverage are also pretty bearable... I have private insurance so I can get fast appointments and go to a nicer and less crowded hospital if necessary, and it's around 35€/mo.

It's politer. You can call someone a sod or tell them to sod off.  It'a  bit like the Irish shreck which really means f***. But polite.

In extremely rare cases a patient may want to seek medical treatment in other countries that have specialists in that field, the state will pay for any treatment abroad that is unavailable in Norway.

Really?

What comes to socialist health care I have to agree with Takeda. If you have an issue which is not life threatening you may have to wait months or even years(if you need surgery) to get treatment. Also the health care centers in smaller towns are really substandard with overloaded and sometimes incompetent staff. As the general public has been "educated" to believe that out healthcare is best in the world, things are not getting any better.

hmm... seven weeks of vacation?  I get four but I get every other friday off (work 9 hours) and 12 holidays a year plus 2 weeks comp or admin leave..

so that is like... 4 to 6 weeks vacation plus 26 3 day weekends plus 12 holidays.
