Insect bite?
« on: December 23, 2004, 10:55:34 PM »
Two days ago I noticed a small round bump on my side.  I thought may be an ingrown hair. Didn't think much about it. But today I looked at it and now its dark red with 5 small bumps in the center of the  area. And on top of the smaller bumps there are tiny holes which I think are just pores that are enflammed from it. It must of happend while I slept. It starting to itch some but besides that it dosen't hurt. Anyone know what type of insect can do this?  First time that I had a bite look like this. I think maybe some sort of spider.

Could be a Brown Recluse spider bite.

Doesn't sound like a recluse bite.

from what i understand, recluse are a bit more severe & faster. I wouldnt rule out a spider, but since its been 2 days i dont think itll get worse.
but if you're really concerned, see a doctor, not the hitech bbs.

naw, won't kill ya', but you will find the area around the bite DYING and the skin/tissue sloughing off after a couple days.

Still merits checking out.  I'd set up a visit to your GP asap.

I had a bite, it happened when I was asleep. woke next morning thinking also it was an ingrown hair a pimple... then it got hard, developed a hard lump underneath..all in just 2 days. I popped it and it ozzed black chit... I went to the Doctors and yesser I was bittin by a Brown Recluse... I had 2 options... a chitload of antibiotics or have half of my inner thigh cut out... I went for the antibiotics...3 weeks and finally it worked. I still have a black spot of dead skin and muscle on my thigh....

When in doubt seek medical attention!!!

Spider bites don't play nicely.

Get help soon as possible!!!!

see a doctor now !!!

it could very well be a brown recluse ... and those bites grow and grow until ur dead  or they have to amputate ...

(a friend of mine lost a leg to one of those , he didnt seek help fast enough)

they kill you very slowly ... it takes weeks

Well still not effects from the bite. It isn't even intching now. Its still in the same shape as it was yesterday. I had a my friend who is an insect fanatic and a Doctor to drian the area with a small needle.  He said it was an odd bite and could be a brown locuse or some sort of jumping spider. He is betting on the jumping spider since it wasn't much fluid in the bite. I'm going to keep a close eye on it today while I'm going to a couple of Chirstmas Dinners. And when I get back he wants to check it out better.  He said there no use of going to the Hospital since if it gets worse he has everything down at the clinic to treat it. Its always good having a Doctor as a friend.:D  Well I'm of to eat some good ole Christmas Ham, Hope everyone has a great Holiday. And try not to eat to much :aok
