There is a problem with the FM for drones... Hitech admitted it in a previous post. They are revamping join up method for drones in TOD apparently. most of the time I have no problem. I recently upped 3 different flights of lancs from the same field, same runway each time. one of the 3 times I lost a drone. If I am using the same method (I was) I SHOULD get the same result (I DIDNT) I am not one of the low-alt bomber guys. When I fly bombers I plan out bomb runs with different targets, alternates, etc. I am waiting on TOD to see if this gets better... I am a patient person, but my patience wears a bit thin when I and others who have LEGITIMATE complaints about a product we pay for regularly, we post it in an appropriate forum, send in films and yet we are slammed by those who are fortunate enough to not have the same problem. There IS a problem, it was ADMITTED to by Hitech himself. I RARELY lose drones at all but when it does happen due to this bug it irritates me! I never had a problem landing formations until yesterday, and it was my first time flying AR234s in a formation... The approach was fine, then the instant I dropped my gear, the drones dirt napped for a loss of 120+ perks.
Like I said, I am waiting for TOD to see if the bugs are fixed before I comment on this again, but seeing people flamed on the board for complaining about a problem is ridiculous. This IS the appropriate forum for this sort of report.
For those who feel they have the perfect method... good for you! I am happy that your experience is a positive one. Remember though when you deal with computers with such a vast array of hardware out there and with each piece of hardware handling the data in different ways you can receive differing results. Just the latency of the memory in each of your devices in your computer can affect gameplay... that memory in your network switch that uses a store-and-forward method for example can affect your gameplay. thats just a TINY example of things that make a difference. So, instead of encouraging someone to quit the game, or flame them on the board simply sit back and see what happens. Tightening up the drones flight model or envelope might help solve their problem. When you deal with computers, you cannot ALWAYS blame the method of the user because most computers here are different and therefore to SOME degree the parameters of gameplay and the players satisfaction with gameplay is going to be different.
