PB4Y-1
« on: December 29, 2004, 04:00:51 PM »
I was asked to post a couple of screenshots of the PB4Y-1 USN Liberator I've been working on. It is not complete yet, still need some more work on weathering, surface effects and paint chips etc.

The current gloss finish on the B-24 skin makes this scheme look really weird from most angles. We are supposed to get a matt/gloss switch for skins with 2.02, so if this is finished before 2.02 arrives I'll shelve it and start on an aluminium B-24 skin.

Hey, I've got a question, did you use the panel line template on AH-Skins? I have that one but its sized at 1024x1028, and when I resize it to 1024x1024 it doesnt work (or I might be doing something else totally wrong).

No, I had a look at that template but had the same trouble you did. So I started this one from scratch.

Ok, that makes me feel a little better about my failure to get it to work. :)

I'll look into that template (it's mine).
Find out why it's 1024x1028.

Found it, its 4 extra pixels on the top side of the image, just crop the template removing the top 4 pixels and its fine.

I have fixed it and sent it to lucull for updating.
Wish I'd found out bout it earlier.
Sorry.

Great! I dont know enough about that kind of thing to find out what was wrong or I would have said something sooner. I thought I was not doing something properly.

Greebo sir

I appreciate your hard work in building the skins you have so far.

Wondering if the skin you built for the F4U-1 (1835FAA) could also be built for the F4U-1D ?  In other words, did the 1835th ever upgrade to the 1D or do you know of any other squadrons that flew the 1D with that paint scheme ?  It is truly awesome.

Thank you RAS. Not sure about 1835, but there are plenty of examples of later Corsairs with similar colour schemes. Unfortunately the AH Corsair skins are the buggiest of those I have worked on. The upper and lower wing skins overlap in places and the upper and lower cowlings and tailplane are mirrored. This makes anything but an all dark blue scheme look horrible. The exception is the F4U-1, where HTC have created "band aid" patches to cover over the bugs. Sorry, but it will have to wait for the HTC reskin.
