Noticed today that we have two 52FG/5FS both by Oboe for the P51B. I suspect one was supposed to replace the other as an update but instead we have two identical planes by the same person. Just letting you know.

Skuzzy, there are more duplicates than that - I know Fester's 343rdFG/11FS P-40E has a twin, and I think nopoop has a duplicate P-47D (not sure which one offhand).

If you see duplicates, just post the information from the hangar for them, and I will take care of it.

This is a problem we need to deal with and I have some ideas, but have to muddle through them. When a submission comes in for an update, but the reference number is not included, then we end up with duplicates in the arenas.
While the solution would appear to be simply review and compare every submission with what has already been released, it is prohibitively time consuming to do so.

In the meantime, any help in spotting duplicates will be appreciated.

I don't mind going through the skins for all the vehicles and identifying the duplicates. Hopefully the second skin listed is the more recent one?

There's a duplicate Hellcat skin... One with the shark mouth. One looks rushed, while the other looks like it took a while to make.

I'm sure you'll see what I'm talking about.

Here's the duplicates I see on my system:

B17 - 2 457th BG by 2 artists
F6F - 2 VF-27 by 2 artists
P40 - 2 343/11 by Fester
P47D11 - 2 56/63 and 2 405/510 by different artists (different skins, but same sqdns)
P47D25 - 2 56/61
P51B - 2 52/5

I think those are the right numbers, my handwriting is so gawdawful it's hard to tell 60 seconds after I write stuff down.

I just went through the list as well, and the only true duplicates I saw were:

P-40E - 343FG/11FS by Fester
P-51B - 52FG/5FS by Oboe

If it's not by the same artist I don't think its an 'unintentional duplicate' error -- e.g. I'm sure only one of my 52FG/5FS should be in the game - I think I sent in an updated version of the skin before I got back my first confirmation email assigning it a reference number. Prolly the same thing happened to Fester.

OTOH, both Alf and I did VF-27 sharkmouth skins for the F6F, but they are quite different.

Yeah a few of the dupes were of the same unit, by different people, and the skins were different. But when looking at the pop-up list it appears confusing.

For instance, on some of the P47 skins, some were obviously earlier in the war before camo started being used. So if the name of the skin had "1943" added or something like that, it'd make the list easier to comprehend.

It seems that Edbert's "Yellow10" Dora skin was written over with Waffle's "Bad Worishofen" skin. They both appear the same now. Anyone else see this?

i really wanna do a P51D skin! and theres 2 of the same type. If one is taken out i call the spot! lol

If you mean Edberts JG26 skin, I see they look very similiar but I don't think they are duplicates in the sense of an accidental file overwrite. Waffle's skin has aluminim colored leading edges on the wing; Edbert's are more white-colored. Also the font of the wing text is bolder on Edbert's skin. They may have the same subject though.

nopoop's 56FG/62FS P-47D-40 is definitely an error for me though - it just shows up as the old 256 default D40 skin.

I actually think there is a dupe on the 51D's now that I think about it. I think the "Belligerant Betty" skin has one just like it that's named in the FG/FS manner.

Would be cool to have one or two more 51D skins with camo.

"Belligerant Betty"#17 and "Double Nothin"#00 are two separte P-51's.

OK ... they sure look similar. I use default texture size so maybe I don't see the subtle differences.
