food poisoning?
« Reply #30 on: December 31, 2004, 10:01:43 PM »
Two days before Christmas I come home from my part time job after having had a grilled chicken sandwich and fries for lunch. On the way home at midnight I get the worst tasting bottle of tea from a convenience store and within 45 minutes of drinking that tea I start puking. Shortly thereafter its coming out the other end and my bathroom is not setup for double duty so its the trash can for me. In short I didn't eat anything other than sweet potatoe casarole on Christmast day and drink water. I wasn't able to eat normally for three - four days afterward. 6-8 hours of both ends happening and only two hours of sleep in twenty-four are exactly what everyone needs just before christmas along with the feeling that your stomach and intestines are going to turn inside out.

depends on what kind of food poisoning you get.

as a guy who spent the last 17 years or so traveling to crappy little mill towns, I've I've occasionally been left with no other options but to live off those sandwiches they sell in those plastic triangles at the local truck stop.  the edibility of these is a real crap-shoot (sorry for the pun), so I've managed to get food poisoning a few times.

most give symptoms very similar to what you describe.

I once had a sandwich with mayo on it that went bad.  that was a completely different thing.  very painfully, like your stomach is constantly filling with air, and a painfully need to belch.  when you do I can only describe it as feeling (and smelling :(  ) like your guts are turning to dust inside your body.  add to that a really nasty fever followed by a day or so of feeling like some kid is playing with the thermostat in my body,  burning up with sweat rolling off me in a cold room, to my teeth chattering as I froze under 6 blankets in a room that is almost 90 deg with space heaters running.

the worst by far though was bad shrimp (and the most embarrassing since I cooked them).  I'd bought them from an open case, the kind where the food stays refrigerated as long as it stays below a certain level.  we later figured out that the package must have been tossed in with a corner above the refrigeration line.  so out of a pound or so of shrimp there were only 3 bad ones.
I was luck I didn't swallow it.  I new immediately it was bad, it felt like bitting into a wet cotton ball.  I spit it out immediately, and looked through the rest to find a couple more bad ones and through the whole meal out (my apatite was gone after that anyway).
everything was OK for about 16 hours.  then I started sweating and feeling real crappy at work.  I only remember the first 20 minutes of the hour drive home, I got home some time before noon.  my wife says I left the car running in the driveway and walked straight to bed, just babbling incoherently to answer her questions.  the next reasonably clear thought I had was about midnight the following night.
it was like all of the worst symptoms from every disease I've ever had plus hallucinations.  like having an extreme case of the flu, chicken pox, and measles all at the same time, and then having some one give you about a day and a half worth of strong acid on top of that.
I was freezing my bellybutton off and my temp was barely under 104.  at one point my wife had to have my brother come over and put me in the bath tub because she was worried my temp was going to fry my brain.

Sounds almost like when I had that Norwalk virus thing.

Eruptions from both ends for about 6-8 hors then got better quite quickly...except my stomach muscles really hurt for about a week.

Most occurrences of Diarrhea are forms of Food Poisoning.

I haven't had Food Poisoning for a few years.  But, the "Shotgun #hits" and puking with a little dab of pains I do not miss.

Worst case...Had some bad Chinese Food.  1.5 days of puking (10ish total w/in span).   That was back in 1999.

I got something like that a year ago. Woken up at 7AM by a friend who wanted some cash for gas so he could go to work, I hand him the cash and then am completely jolted awake by extreme pains in my gut. I bolt for the bathroom, falling over a couch and tripping up stairs. No sooner had the explosive evacuation of my bowels begun, and a surge of epic proportions erupted from my stomach.

After 30 minutes, anything else coming out was going to be my intestines, stomach and esophagus. I have a head ache now, take two aspirin and go back to bed. Two hours later, I am jolted awake and throw up. This continues in a rash of dry heaves, and anytime I tried to get water down it would come up. I was at a friends house this whole time. After 6 or so hours, I get the motivation to go home. I have to drive 45 minutes, holding a plastic safeway back below my mouth my esophagus has now become the nile river. I got home and proceeded to have clear liquid, water I was drinking, coming out of both ends.

Later that night I could hold down ginger ale and jello.

It was horrible.

I find that Colliodal Silver works great also.  It kills bad bacteria in the intestines.  Afterwards, you should eat some yogurt with live enzymes in it to repopulate any good bacteria that may have got caught in the cross-fire.
