Help me out here
« on: December 31, 2004, 08:02:54 PM »
I was just trying to fashion up some witty little post about 2004, when I smashed head-first into a bit of a brick wall.

First, it was gonna be: "2004, what sucked, and what will suck in 2005".

So I came up with Scott Peterson/Michael Jackson, Bennifer/Spearsgate, and Iraq/Iraq.

But that's kind of negative when, overall - at least personally - it's been a pretty good year. So I thought I'd add a 2nd element to the post:

"2004, what was great, and what will be great about 2005"...

Herein lies the problem. When I look back at 2004 I'm having a hard time picking out anything good about it.

The private spaceship contest springs to mind. Uhm.... but I'm really drawing a blank here.

So help me out... and in so doing... help craft a 2004 appreciation thread. No personal stuff though... just world events.

I know there had to be some good stuff.

The election ended fairly cleanly, didn't drag on in court forever.

The olympics went on.

They nailed the salamander that wrote the Sasser virus.

Lance Armstrong won his 6th straight Tour.

Mount Saint Helens put on a show.

Space Ship One took the Ansari X-Prize.

otherwise, I'd say it's been a pretty crap year.

I don''t know about the Ohlsen twins,  but  I don't think they're that hot.

Thought of one...

Somewhere... someone was born in this year of 2004, who will somehow continue to make the world an interesting place to reside. Maybe even add value to it.

I wonder what his/her name is.... and I wonder what the effect will be.

My one year wedding anniversary

(no one thought it would happen)

I'm an uncle again.

My grandfather made it through another year, god I love that old ****er.

That's just the last few months, I'll think about the rest of the year and let ya know.

OK. One more that I don't have to think about.

Strong economic growth in the US economy gave me a good boost in my 401K.

Still more excited about the new family members. And the older ones that are still with us.

I'm sure I'll come up with some more.
