Perk the SpitV!!!
« Reply #15 on: January 02, 2005, 01:51:55 PM »
I've noticed that both BatfinkV and AKHumble orient their head view so that they're not looking through the gunsight, but at a point at the lower-right side of the cockpit.  I'm assuming that you've "calibrated" to that point on cockpit for firing your weapons.  I noticed it's effectiveness, but why?  What is the improvement over the normal gunsight?

Thanks

im pretty sure thats a glich in the film viewer recon, i always have my head on the defualt view forward, except i move my head right bact to the head rest for a wider view and to help avoid head shots from side on deflection shots:D

some of the film viewer save views are ridculous to even fly through, let alone shoot. you can set them for each film in the same way as the game. personally i prefer chase view with enemy padlock view on for films, you have to tweak the zoom a bit to make it work but it shows the flight aspect so much more obviously.

Excellent flying Bat and Rosco. Wish i could fly a dern Spit5 as effectively as a lot of yous guys.

there are others who make it look much, much easier than me i assure you.

the reason i left the pony was because i knew he would just run and i thought i might need a little ammo on the way home. and i did as it turned out.
judging by his unpursued, 5k extention i dont think i was too mistaken. he did come back at 10k tho.

the funny thing is, this was a rather sloppy performance by me in the spit yet i was forgiven by two things:

the spit's most wondefull handling

and the luck that the two people who had a chance at me couldnt shoot that day. :)

This is how i view it.

I calculated the P40 the highest risk as many a great stick destroy spits in them regularly, it turned out he wasnt flying it too well so ichanged my focus onto the next highest threat, the spit. i didnt want to force the shot on the P40 and lose possition. the spit flew decently and i didnt fly great with a couple of rudder problems related to twisty saitek cheapo thing.
He screwed himself when he changed his target from killing me to gangbanging the poor 110.

The P38, who stayed out of the fight at first very kindly not ganging me, had the 110 cold if the spit kept me busy yet he went right after the 110 also. i went after them, hoping the P40 hadnt worked out how to turn and chase me yet, shot first at the 38, the bigger target and went after the spit chasing him round in loops untill he augered with passion. Having cleared two off the 110 and leaving him a timid jug and and the pony. i decided to drag the p40 away from the nutter pony, his rounds wizzing by were very alarmingduring the previous minute and i had had enough of it.
P40 went down just in time for my favorite bit, the Jug, oh that was funny, and the pony who couldnt hit me. the yak put up a good display but not enough help from his friends and he perished.

the best bit in the film for me was rtb'ing to see close to 25 nits re-supping our home base in the drastic hours on uterus when we only had 4 bases. I really got a feel for the team spirit thing again. I felt proud to have helped by flying over enemy lines to hold the bandits with all i had to aid the resup. was what i signed  up for.

the ole ... "oh my gaud I pulled to hard "

i used to pull some manuvers so hard that   i would put my spit into a wierd  stall and just fall to the earth  .(I havent had it happen in ah2 yet ) but i have disturbed my flight path enough to do the ole floppity flop .

Yes the p 40 would be a big threat for the 1st couple of turns . but I'd be more worried about the yak  , i fly the yak alot also and its a spit killing machine in the right hands . Gotta lov its spiral climb , but it needs to be flown with more E then the spit 5 .

The thing to pay attention to in the films is  E management and Timing  . alot of newer pilots try to  pull too hard /fast  or havent the "Feel" for when you need to gain more speed for the next manuver .

Batfink that was fantastic flying. !!!!

The kill on that Jug was just a fantastic move.

Then that aim... god I wish I would have half of it!! Especially that gunnery on that Yak... damn these where good shots...

Now I know why I die to you and your spit so often...

thank you Tex sir S!

but i think you're too modest, you fly very well. we have had some close ones. maybe you can teach me to fly the yak a bit and in return we could do some target practice?

Batfink Id love to take up that offer on some target practice, though I doubt I have much experience to offer in return.
