Isbar 5G virus (trojan downloader) removal?
« on: January 03, 2005, 04:23:08 AM »
errrm... I got this virus on my home computer for the last few days, and my anty-virus (AVG) can find it, but can't seem to be able to clean or remove it.

The file seems to be in a cab file in the windows/temp internet files folder... so I'm not too fond of deleting a cab file.

Any of you wise person here have a creative idea on how I could get rid of it?

Thanks in advance.

I never much liked AVG, for me it wasn't that effective. I'm a Kaspersky kind of guy.

I think a .cab file is the compressed file used by Installshield to store everything it needs to unpack and install when it ia activated.

I can't imagine there would be anything related to the OS in a windows/temp internet folder.  To my knowledge its safe to delete anything in these folders.

What's the name of the cab file?

Please post a followup to let us know how you came out?

Disappointed to here negative comments abotu AVG.  MY PC cillin subscript expired and I'm looking for a free alternative antivirus program.

I installed AVG on my sons computers as a test, but they aren't on the internet that much...

I picked up a nasty little virus from somewhere last week that wound up frying my HD. Macafee picked it up in a scan, could'nt clean it so I quaranteened it. When I rebooted POOF, there went the drive. I don't d/l pron or use fileswapping (Kazaa, ect). I think it must have been part of a right-wing conspiracy.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.
