What Do You Believe Is True Even Though You Cannot Prove It?

Great site, Sandman, thanks.

I believe, but cannot prove, that life on Earth comes from spontaneous evolution, i.e., life, including human, evolved relatively simultaneously from the primordial soup all over the globe.

This accounts for the basic competitiveness of all life forms for their own space and survival.  DNA aside, there is no single thread of humanity let alone all life.  There were many Eves, and their heirs continue to compete.

If cooperation proves the most successful way to thrive, it is done.

If competition proves the most successful way to thrive, it is done.

If exterminating rivals proves the most successful way to thrive, it is done.

Cooperation and sharing is best achieved from a position of strength.  It is rarely achieved from a position of weakness.

Relative peace is achieved only in proportion to the number of people perceiving not only that they have equitable shares of the communal wealth, but are respected for their contributions to it.

Thus spake Halothustra.

That our souls exist somewhere else, out in eternity-land, and in a whole nuther scenario outside of our physical bodies. Our brains are basically like antennas, and we're being driven by remote control from somewhere else. When we die, our bodies die... but our souls - us, really - are still out there holding the remote control unit. So nothing much changes. We are not humans having a spiritual experience, we are spirits having a human experience.

Booyah!

I don't believe that this is the theory. The "something" was there, just compressed.

If you're a believer in the bubble theory it applies, but if you don't, then its empty space(which means NOTHING)...

but I understand what you mean, question of wording only...

and who said it was compressed, or has to be:cool:

"I don't believe that this is the theory. The "something" was there, just compressed."

or that something was god...the difference being, god and the texts assosiated with him are much more likely to stop someone from the path of "evil" than some bubble of energy...

Not entirely,

e/m waves, heat, other forms of energy, etc exist in 'empty space.'  Mass isn't the only thing out there.  It possesses dimension... it's not non-existant, nothing.

That dogs understand speech, individual words, not just tone of voice.

Cats are telepathic, the bastards know what you are thinking....especially when you mean them harm.

That there is life on other planets and in other galaxies, but , contrary to majority opinion, they aren't as advanced technologically as humans.

Osama Bin Laden is dead.

Harold Holt was kidnapped by a submarine.

My dog is responsible for the dead possums that show up in my yard every so often.

We have a soul (for want of a better word) and allthough not eternal, it exists for many human lifetimes, and in many differant forms.

I believe but cannot prove...
That I would be a better hubby for that gal at work I like so much.
That Darwin was right. The fossil record damnit!
When kicked in the nuts it's not actually your balls that hurt.
That Britney has the best legs of all celebs.
That I would kick butt on Wheel Of Fortune.
That fate is out to get me and laughs at my expense when he succeeds.
That I was dropped on my head as a child but it did not effect me... that I was dropped on my head... that I was dropped on my head.. SPIDERS SPIDERS!!!!! GET THEM OFF MEEEE!!!!
God put me on earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now, I am SO far behind, I will never die!

WOW! Right up my alley as far as things that  I think to about , thanks Sandman!

Gosh, I have so many of my own.

UFOs: they are real, created by some intelligent entity for a purpose but are they are not physical, solid objects....yet they can mimick real, solid objects. I believe UFOs  are a "spiritual" or "supernatural" phenomena. Ghosts, crop circles, paranormal activity all fall into the same catagory as UFOs.

Creator: I think that science will one day come to the conclusion that the universe was created by a higher being.

To explain the existance of all the matter in the universe, we are left with only two logical  choices (imo) to explain it's existence, each of which cannot be expained by man.

1. all the matter always existed througout all time
2. all the matter was created out of absolutely nothing.

My "creator" belief ties into my belief that UFOs, ghosts and such are not physical, yet can manifest themselves in physical ways to us.

Gravity science is all wrong about the nature and understanding of it. A mass in space will not attract or interact in any way with another mass sitting in close proximity, unless they have an atmosphere and/or magnetic fields ( iirc). Think about that.

Gravity is heavy chit!

I'm your huckleberry. IQ of 153 & SAT scores high enough to exempt UH's pre-req's. Wait, nevermind... I'm not from Texas. I just live here.

You don't have an IQ of 153.  And pre-requisite classes are just for people who are struggling with a certain subject.  But thanks for lying to us though.

Things I believe but can't prove:

1)The P-51 was a better fighter than the Spitfire Mk.14
2)Alien life-forms exist
3)Giant squid ate sailors during World War II
