Frenchman Flat, Mercury Nevada

Ground zero for many above ground nuclear test blasts back in the 50's.

Bunkers, military vehicles, cages for animals, trenches for soldiers, bridges, houses all kinds of stuff left there in a barren nuclear wasteland.

Very cool.

Seen some strange things out there. Most I can't share but one does come to mind. A Tractor Trailer (Gas Tanker) rolled on a major highway and caught on fire. You could see the smoke plume for miles away. When I got there the operator was standing talking to the first officer on the scene and it looked like he was covered in black soot and his clothes were ripped to shreds. It wasn't until I got up right next to him that his clothes were actually burned into his skin. Poor guy was in shock and probably not feeling much pain at the time. Unfortunately he succumbed to his wounds a few hours later.

hehe also CAVY jumping about 10 feet in the air and crying like a stuck pig after getting zapped with the M26 Taser. :D Salute CAV!

A big water buff bull hook the skid of a Bell 47 with a horn and drag it out of the sky.
The kid flying litterally shat himself, apart from that, he was unhurt, though I doubt he flew again in a hurry.
The chopper was badly smashed up but repairable, the buff was shot.

Saw the whole thing from about twenty metres away, the guy riding shotgun in the bull buggy I was driving shot the buff.

Come to think of it, Heli-mustering and bull/buff catching in general would have to be the source of some of the craziest **** I've ever seen....great fun though :)

I actually drove past a burning car the other day.  On the 405 in LA, a Cooper Mini was blazing, as in 20-30 foot tall flames.  It was in the far left lane, and police were directing traffic past in the far right lane.   Even though I didn't come within 20 feet of it, I could FEEL the radiant heat through the wind.  It was HOT.

Wish I had a camera.

It wasn't a wreck, and the people got out ok as far as I could tell.  Looked like it just...  burned down.

When you say literally, do you mean he actually evacuated his bowels into his trousers?

The day I turned 10, I was about to go to sleep and heard a dull bang, as if something heavy fell or something.
Mother yelled at me for it, although I had nothing to do with it.
Couple minutes later heard sirens and then the flashing of emergency vehicle lights through the curtain.
At that moment we figured it's better to see whats up and go outside.
There was already firemen going inside the neightbours apartment, where something had happened.
A bit afterwards it appeared that the neightbour had blown herself up with a gas oven, although first dying to inhalation of the gas fumes.
A further rumour tells that the refrigerator had then blown up the gas.
The explosion blew out the shrapnels of kitchen window over 50 meters away and blew out the closed kitchen door.

The next day I was able to take a peek inside the apartment from door and outside through window.
It was surprisingly clean, considering all the smoke which poured out of the apartment. Less than a meter down from the ceiling was pitch black, but downwards from that the walls were nearly completely white.
The candles weren't either completely melt. The oven was almost as new, except for missing the top piece where you cook things.

Talk about a birthday fireworks.
Of course my birthday is in november and I catch a cold, plus had to live two days elsewhere due to the smell of smoke.
No smoke damages to my home though, just the smell of smoke. The kind of smell which you could smell from the clothes for two days after spending couple of hours aside an open fireplace.

Not the only fireworks though.
Once with my cousin almost saw a house get hit by lightning, but a thin forrest blocked the sight.
It was the loudest and brightest lightning I've ever wittnessed though.
Everything was lit white the lightning and a horrid thundering sound came out of it.
My cousin actually jumped to the cover and grabbed me with him. A true life saver :D
I was just standing and the first thought was "wow".
Then we looked out of the window and saw smoke rising over the trees.
The family living in the house was away at the moment.
The next day we saw it and the attic was completely burned down, with the exception of a stone fireplace.

Once almost at the same place saw a BMW run out of the road at a curve, rolling over couple of times and ending up on its roof.
Later heard it was stolen.
Not the only car which has ran out of the road on that road.

At school, when I was 8 or so, I saw a ceiling glass come down from 2 floors high.
I was the only one walking in the corridors that time, luckily on the 2nd floor and not the 1st floor where it landed.
Some glass shrapnels flew up to the 2nd floor though.
Luckily everyone was in the classes at the moment, otherwise it could been very fatal, especially if it had been in the beginning or at the end of intermission. Some 20 kids could been right underneath it.
