Poutine is a French-Canadian concoction comprised of french fries, gravy, and cheese curds. (Being a French-Canadian word, you pronounce it as the French-Canadians do.)
This wonderful mélange of taste-tempting but calorie-rich treats originated in Québec, in the region of the Bas-St-Laurent or Gaspésie (so I've been told), caught on in Montréal, and quickly spread from there to other parts of Québec, and even as far as Ottawa. Since then, it has spread across Canada, and is even available at fast-food chains such as Burger King.
Sounds horrific! But.... well.... maybe good after 'bout 10 beers, kinda like White Castle burgers.
