Not annoying music, but something he can use in the daytime and early evning while people sit down and talk while sipping their coffe or just reading the paper or interior decorating magazines :D

It a really cool place with a quite atmosphere in the daytime and its a nightclub in the weekends.

The furiture in the place is kinda 70's with modern features.

I'm gonna help him out a few nights a week behind the bar serving coffe and booze. the customers are kinda trendy people from 18 to early 30's

If anyone has heard the album "Lisa Ekdal sings Salvadore Poe" you know the general idea.

(Why she threw away that beautiful hat ? )

If your friend needs just the music of the kind you described and wouldn't mind hearing out-of-this-world instrumental compositions with the virtuoso lead guitar of exceptional lyricism, don't go further but get a copy of "New York Attitude" by Dmitri Charaev. You can listen to a sample from this album at

http://www.prolpro.com/music.htm

This album was released by an obscure Japanese recording company, so it may be difficult to find a copy of this album even in Japan. Try to e-mail the guys at "prolpro".
In case of failure inform me. There may be a chance that I'll be able to help you. Good luck with your search ! :)

Yeah, sort of...

I was out the other night with my brother, some bar, talking about whatever. He's a total music freak like me. Alluhvasudden we both went into a trance. It turns out there was an ABBA song playing in the background. Almost at the same time we both said "shrecking brilliant". Can't remember which of the songs it was. But holy... ABBA were brilliant... They could put together a song like nobody's business.

Nash, I was working on one of my company's devices at magic mountain the other day....they piped a few ABBA songs through and I thought the same thing. They were brilliant. They knew how to craft a catchy song.

I remember a lot of their songs , as I was a kid when they hit big.

Nuke, ABBA is not like something else.
ABBA IS something special. Till this day I'm proud that I was among the TV viewers who watched them winning the Eurovision song contest. Was it in 1974 ? I can't believe it wasn't yesterday.
Of course, it wasn't "Yesterday". It was "Waterloo".
Though this particular song may be not of the kind Nilsen's friend is looking for, nevertheless they have so many other songs which fit Nilsen's description.

Yesterday came out in the 60's....

ABBA was good, but but if you view what they did as good...then the Breatles were GREAT!

And that stupid Eurovision song contest is a joke....An Israeli transexual win it a few years ago.....transexual, non European??? Wins European song contest?

i feel sorry for ABBA, they've been taxed so much that the group eventually decided that it's not worth making money:D

Might just wanna create a collection of tunes from different artists for him

one in particular that I can think of off the top of my head that might be ideally suited is

Dire Straits :: Your Latest Trick
Off the "Brothers in Arms" album

While were at it off the same album you can also include "Why worry"
Death is no easy answer
For those who wish to know
Ask those who have been before you
What fate the future holds
It ain't pretty

I think the whole album is great.

One of those albums I initially got just for 2-3 songs and ended up loving the whole thing
