Hello All --
You are invited to drop by Zeno's Warbird Video Drive-In
(
http://www.zenoswarbirdvideos.com) and catch our Holiday Triple Feature of World War II aviation films for free online video viewing. "Winged Artillery" See 75mm canon firing B-25Gs in action against the Nipponese in the Pacific, "Field Assembly of the P-47 Thunderbolt" -- 50 men assemble a P-47 in a field using muscle, unpowered hand tools, and pieces of the shipping crate it came in!, and "Report from the Aleutians," an Academy Award nominated window on the US air war machine taking it's first steps in 1942 in Alaska
Winged Artillery Nine 75mm canon firing B-25Gs of the 48th Bomb Squadron, 7AAF, based on Apamama in the Gilbert Islands, conduct a hair raising tree top level strike on the Japanese air base on Mille. Also features amazingly well preserved and very rare color footage of daily life of air crew and ground personnel stationed on Apamma and Tarawa. As a bonus, you'll watch Sea Bees using heavy equipment to transform these hard won tropical atolls into fully functioning air bases and ground crews maintaining the Mitchell's massive canons.
Field Assembly of the P-47 Thunderbolt This truly remarkable step-by-step training film shows how a ground support crew of fifty men could assemble a P-47 in a field using nothing more than muscle, unpowered hand tools, and pieces of the shipping crate it came in. We're talking nothing more than hammers, wrenches and bicycle pumps! You'll also get a unique look at the inner workings of the big Jug as it is literally bolted together buy field personnel. A must see for P-47 fans and shade tree mechanics alike!
Report from the Aleutians (Academy Award Nominee) This documentary, narrated by Academy Award winning director John Huston (and partly narrated by his father Walter (Treasure of Sierra Madre), is a rare window on early air war action in Alaska's Aleutian Islands, including some of the earliest documented war time footage of the P-38E, P-39, and B-24C. Fighting in a part of the world where it was either raining or snowing most of the year was no picnic, as shown by footage of aircraft belly flopping on strips that were closer to swimming pools than landing fields. B-24 raids on Kiska are portrayed in detail as well as rare scenes from daily military life in 1942 at an Army Air Corps base in the Frozen North.
If you haven't stopped by Zeno's Drive-In before, we also feature 1942-45 vintage WWII Army & Navy pilot training films on how to fly the F4U, SB2A, F6F, P-38, P-39, P-40, P-47, P-51, P=61,TBF/TBM, AT-6, B-17, B-24, B-25, A-20, A-26, B-26, B-29, Stearman N2S and more. That's over 13 hours of rockin' props for free viewing over the internet. See detailed charts, diagrams, and interior photos from original WWII pilot's manuals too. Finally, our "Control Tower" page has the largest collection of World War II Aviation links on the 'net
