A Gentlemans agreement?
« on: January 10, 2005, 11:16:35 AM »
We all know the furballers distain for the landgrabbers.

I have perhaps an idea for a solution but it would require the understanding and participation of the majority player base.

How about we the players make it an unwritten rule, an gentlemens (or womans) as the case may be agreement that the bases where all 3 countries meet are not to be porked or captured.

Make our own furball area

The problem with Gentleman's agreements is they are always broken.

I.E. The best way to start a war is to sign a non-aggression pact.

Even easier, create an arena for furballers. Make the MA a landgrab/base capture arena.
Even then it wouldn't work.

Well the way I see it. On alot of maps anyway, all three countries almost always merge somewhere anyway.
So even if a base is captured the furball area just moves over to the  next available trio of bases. where ever on the map bases from all countries meet or are at their closest point. thats the designated fuball area.

It can be done if the players want it.
While we may never be able to eliminate it in total in these areas.
If each side spreads the word and gets on the players on their side porking the furball area I think eventually be greatly reduced.
Maybe if the idea gets enough support HTC can put up a message with the request when you first log into the game like they do with the surveys

The thing about it is every other area on the map would be free for the landgrabbers to do as they please

You's gotta agree the idea has merit

No it wouldnt if for no other reason is that I think no matter what yoru particular cup of tea is, Most people want to be where the crowd is. And the "crowd" will always be the MA

if its accessable to non participating players then this area......... mobile or not will impinge upon their game play.......it will be used as an offensive base (even if fighter only) and therefore attract (rightly) counter attack and capture or at least severe porkage in retaliation.......then there will be times when "spoilers " just want to ruin  "furballers" fun.

Its been done before it has always had these limitations.........

The centre of the map is absolutely the WRONG place for this and frankly it should be nowhere near any other game play...........

Enable friendly fire in the MA (I don't think it is) and when you see those friendly buffs going for that CV or base you are furballing with, all fighting stops and everyone frags the SOB.

Now that will make for some interesting chatter.

Nothing slips by this one. :D
It would be a lot simpler to just put a big "self destruction" button in the cockpit. That way you wouldn`t have to go through the agony of the newb spawning on the runway behind you and capping Yo *** on take off. It`s too much fun watching them blast away and go bye bye.

jakal is correct... if you didn't have killshooter... 95.89% of the skilled newbies that now participate in the horde would switch to being runway spawn killers of their own teammates.   Would take even less skill and they would "affect" gameplay more and well...

golly... people would notice them gosh darn it!   And... as a bonus... they would get to shoot at another player!

When the front line moves the base that previously had 3 countries close will no longer have that, eaven if it itself is not taken.

That means eaven if noone takes the furballer base it still wont stay a furballer base forever.
Need 3 bases at least to create a furballer hotspot with all countries present, so would have to make 3 bases under "gentleman agreement" not one.

And the idea is not new... various suggestions ranging from putting 3 bases without troups on a remote island to meeting in da exist.

If you are a pure furballer, logical reason would be to go to da and furball there, no base porking there.
