So heads roll at cBS....
« on: January 10, 2005, 11:54:21 AM »
Two questions:

On a scale of 1-10, how much impact do you think the exposed attempt to slander the President with manufactured documents had on shifting the center of gravity of the election over to Bush?

Seems like it a turning point, but maybe that was just for me personally.

And also, does Nash still contend the documents are real and we are all just a bunch of fools brainwashed by rightwing blogger propaganda?

It had no effect whatsoever, one way or the other.

I'd say that it didn't hurt.

Well, it had an effect on at least one vote.  So "No effect whatsoever" might be overstating it.

However I'll put you down for a 0.0. ;)

Well, let's say "No net effect whatsoever."  While it swayed your vote, it probably swayed another person's a different way.  In the aggregate, it left little noticable impact on election trends.

I see what your saying.  I don't know what the poll numbers were but I don't doubt you do.  I'll conceed that point.

Let me rephrase then:  On a scale of 1-10, how much impact did the exposed attempt to slander the President with manufactured documents have personally for you on tipping the scales over to Bush if you were on the edge? (assuming you were part of the majority that voted for Bush.)

I personally think there were quite a few voters like me.  I'm not a big Bush fan.  I think he's made some serious misjudgements.  I'm not sure I could have voted for Kerry but I was seriously considering voting for some third party whacko in protest.

The document fiasco changed my mind.  I think Bush's mistakes were made in good faith.  These vermin were attempting to outright, blatently lie.  CBS's gleeful cooperation and their desire to hold it back until the night before the election for maximum effect exposed their fundemental bias.

I made my mind up right then that they had to be denied what they wanted so bad.  I'll take misjudgements in good faith any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

So, you didn't cast your vote based on who you thought was the best candidate for the job; you cast your vote to spite CBS?

I didn't care about CBS then, and I don't care about CBS now.

I also won't let some external force that is attempting to change my mind about who I am going to vote for, change my mind about who I am going to vote for.

I think its funny...first they say Dan Rather is leaving in March "as already planned".  Now, in this report, they say they will not punish Mr Rather at all 'Since he's already being punished by leaving early'    huh?  So which is it?

And no finding of partisanship?  Riiiight.  I'm sure that Anti-Kerry story was standing by, right?

CBS news is in the tank anyways, their ratings are poo.
