HiTech, why is that

big maps represent 20 fps less for me than any small map?

For example, Equinox, a lot of water everywhere, but 20 fps less than Mindanao (for example), 35 fps less with clipboard open.

I got 60-75 fps in small maps, rarely more than 42 fps in big maps, and the surounding terrain seems as detailed in big maps as in small maps.

I agree MANDO.  Why are they taking a hit, is it because of the Silo's and Barns that look like "Dust Bowl" relics?  Map size I would think, would not have an influence on terrain.

A second curious effect. Selecting medium visual range I get about 15 fps more, while, visually, all remains the same than with full visual range.

LOLOL, I hope this is just an academic exercize, and not a whine. Because I'm happy to get 17 fps on some maps, and have played with as little as 8 fps. Hell, you lose 2-3 times more frames/sec than I can even max out.:p

I saw we take out the trees and make them mapped to a button to turn them on and off.  If u hit one while they're invisable then its your fault but at least some of us low end players can get some more FPS.

-Please?

LOL, only 42 quit complaning the human eye can only see 30 FPS,
any faster makes little difference.

If you are having trouble turn down your ground viz range and Hit shift F3

The human eye can see to 60 frames per second... Where the hell did you get 30 from?

And Mano, I get a performance hit on big maps as well. About 20fps is the difference between big and small maps.

here you go, I save you the trouble, I had it bookmarked :)

The human eye's ability

interesting read

As for big map vs small map...noticed on that equifax or what ever it is called map....most bases everything works fine and dandy, but there are a couple of bases my frame rate plunges into the teens from  my average of 40+- fps

Someone said ( not sure if true or not heh) that there was a few buggy bases  on this map.......was told that in the game anyways.........BUT here is the kicker!
why bring it to the General discussion and not post the problem in the AH2 bug Reports forum if you think something is wrong? that is the forum I would look thru and check to see what has been reported or has not been reported......

Agreed...wrong forum butt......

hmm.... now that i think about it, why DO big maps soak up so much resources?  Is it the clipboard map?  Just flat out cruddy maps w/ screwed up tiles that kill fps?  Is it the xtra little barns etc that can be found on some big maps?

Because, if I understand this correctly, you are not having to render the whole map fying around, just your immediate area.  So.... following that logic, small maps vs. big maps, shoudl be the same.  It is not like you have an expanded range on big maps.
EXCEPT for the clipboard that is.   Could that possibly be it?  The clipboard map having SOOO many more things to track on a big map??  Even minimized it's still  keeping track of stuff.

Hmmm.....

If it's the stupid barn buildings, heck, ditch 'em.  If it's bad tiles etc, PLEASE fix 'em.  If it's the cipboard map hogin' up my fps, please fix it.

Durn it.  Now i'm gonna be trying to figure it out.

I REALLY wanna know if it's the clipboard map.  That's the only thing I can think of.
