rpm, they are still laughing about kerry.

though i am not a democrat, i think
that he has been quite respectable in his loss (by a low % margin) .

lets not forget all, that bush never would have even been there had the election not been turned over to lawyers.  gore won the popular vote.

as far as i can see, there is nothing that i can see to be proud of in that, or in this victory.  especially when one goes about rubbing peoples faces in it.   that just demonstrates thier level of maturity, and offers grist for the mill of regret.

and nuke.  i think a picture is enough.  if you cant make the connection, thats your problemo bro.  you know what i mean.

Lawsuit Seeks New Election Over `Misleading' Ballot
By Karin Meadows / The Associated Press
Nov 9, 2000 WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The lawsuit came after hundreds of Gore supporters flooded the Palm Beach County elections office with calls Wednesday, saying they feared they had mistakenly voted for Buchanan. Lawyers for the Democratic Party said that the design of the Palm Beach County ballot is illegal and that they may ask for a re-vote.

So if the lawyers were left out, GWBush would have won Florida, and become the 4th President to be elected by the Electoral College without winning at least a plurality of the popular vote.

I think that the US Constitution is not the Bible.
It can be amended with the regard to the  procedure of presidential elections. The whole world is laughing at the USA that boasts to be the stronghold of democracy but still uses undemocratic voting procedure (the electoral college).
In my opinion, in the USA the so-called "democracy" has outlived itself. The political mechanism of this country needs some adjustment, may be some fine tuning, but not in the direction of widening of the use of the democracy principles. "Democracy" seems to be a nice word, but it can't and should't be applied for everything. I would rather see the USA not being clinched onto democracy principles per se but paying more attention to what is really applicable and good for the country and its people. Maybe right now you guys just need a limited term of military dictatorship. The ancient Romans were more flexible in these matters and more outspoken about it than the modern Americans.

my father and his fathers father since the revolutionary war have been involved in the preservation of that document.

perhaps you wouldnt mind sending me your personal info.  im sure that my brother in law would love to review that citizenship that you so rightly cherish.

and as for the idea of limited dictatorship...yah, that worked over there pretty well.

holden,

ya, i know.

and i think that it was right that they challenged it.

the lawyers for the democrats wanted votes counted.  the republicans didnt.

the supreme court ultimately decided it, but under shakey circumstances and less than honorable means.

there was this amazing vanity fair article about the whole process from beginning to end...best ive seen yet.  it blew my mind.

pretty dirty stuff.

fact is, when all was said and done, several independent organizations have done counts and have determined that gore actually won florida by a very narrow margin.  the republicans were trying to keep the votes from being recounted and spared no expense laying logs on the road to prohibit this from happening.

nothing to be proud of on either side, but i would say that the republican leadership is going to have a pretty rough go going into the next term.  lots and lots o questions...its not going to be as easy as so many of the die hards think.

theres alot owed by the republicans at this point.  alot of checks they wont be able to cash.

In all that time youwoutld think some of your ancestors migh have taken a moment to read it - especially the pars regarding something called the electoral college and how it relates to electing the president.  You seem to be confused about that jb88.

In fact pretty much all of your above post is very confused...

Not to mention whatever W owes to Rumsefeld so he can keep his mouth shut about the flight 93 conspiracy....

:lol

BTW major news organizations did a full recount of every vote in florida after the election, this process took several months and guess what Bush still won. The SC just ended the endless recounts the dems were demanding  one after the other after every counting scheme of their failed to give enough votes to win...

So suck it up Jb...

Let me paraphrase it.

Maybe right now you guys have to admit frankly that the country is under a limited term of military dictatorship.

If you won't admit that, the limited term can be prolonged unlimitedly.
