Anyone see this video of the mudslide in California? Amazing.....the whole side of the mountain came down, trees and all sort of staying in place like a giant rug being pulled.

Then all that earth flowing like a huge spilled chocolate milkshake.

It's nothing compaired to the tsunami, but the footage is just jaw dropping to me.

Pretty dramatic video.

I grew up just north of La Conchita, used to surf Rincon back when there were 20 people out on a good surf day. The beach at La Conchita is a great skimboarding/dog beach.

They have hwy 101 shut down so they could use the freeway as a staging and air ops area.

So far they say 3 dead and many still missing, for such a small community this is a major blow.

A similar but smaller and far less destructive mudslide hit the same community around '95.

Unfortunatelly no everybody is fine. One person dead, 15 injured and 21 missing. Just this morning they've resumed the rescue operation after hearing some sounds from beneath the destroyed houses.

I was just on 101 near the area a few hours before this happened....heard about it in satelite radio. I'd been driving around southern Ca since Tuesday.....very bad weather....fog, bad accidents, washed out roads....glad to be home.

That video was scary.

Everyone was home at the time of the slide because the roads were already closed.

LA and the surrounding area has had more rain in the last 15 days than ever before... ever!

Yeh the UK is getting battered at the moment and it looks as though you're gonna get some of it in a day or so, if it hasn't already started for you.

Carlisle and the surrounding area has suffered the worst floods in about 40-50 years, it pales in comparison to other disasters but it puts things into perspective when it's on your doorstep.

My prayers are with all that have been effected by these natural disasters and bad weather.

yea this is pretty tragic.  I saw a guy on the news that went out for ice cream only to come home and find his wife and 2 or 3 daughters killed by this mudslide.

We've had ALOT of rain this past couple of days.  My shop was without power since 8:30AM monday till about 2:30PM yesturday.  It's kinda dreary to work in a cold dark building (was 42 degrees inside) and yes they still made us come to work just to sit around and entertain ourselves.
