Been to Cancun. Just remember the beers the van driver offers are NOT free.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Just make sure that you understand that most if not all divng there s drift diving.

Your divemaster will explain everything to you mostly you all enter the water together and hang onto a line the drags behind the boat.

Then he will signal when to decend the boat will follow you as you drift along.

Don't fight the currents just relaxe and enjoy the flight.

When time to surface in other words when the first fat bastard runs out of air you all go up together and try to snag that line.

Can be fun.

Check out Charlies bar.

I used to go every year for the sailfish bite, but we would dive as well.

If you are not going to use a guide, I recommend these two spots:

Go to the marina, and dive of the South bank of the entrance (to the marina).  It is a 20' vertical wall, and if you move to the South, the current will bring you back to where you started.  there are steps carved into the wall there.

An excellent night dive is right off the beach where the cruise ships dock, there is an inverted twin engine plane there at about 45 foot, and the big jacks cruise it in the dark.  Very cool!

Oh yeah, be sure and take the ferry across and make a trip to Tulum, and Coba, if you have time.  Make sure to tell the driver you have to pee enroute, there is good weed growing everywhere on the side of the road.
