Real Time video is 30 fps... that's where that number is coming from I bet.  Even if your eye can't see 70+ FPS the fluidity is still much better than lower FPS.  Moves will feel more natural and it will have more of a "real" feeling to it.

And if I was making a guess as to why FPS drops on larger maps I would venture to say that your machine is having to plot points not only for you and your visual surroundings but for every plane on the map, plus load the entire maps terrain at once.. I'm sure that is a bit intense on system resources.  I could be wrong though.

If the clip board is down, it will not effect fps.

Not sure why some of the larger ones run slower.

I would suggest you spend the few $ required to upgrade and let HTC use that development time towards something good like TOD instead of visualy dumming down the game :)

Can be a lot, running the coad with a performance analysing tool to see how much time spend where would certainly help.

Maybe its the task groups, i think their position is calculated on clientside at least that would explain why they are in another position for each player.

Maybe number of objects, they must be accessed and not using an efficient algorithm here will hurt performance.

Maybe the size of some fields getting bigger causes more page faults.

Maybe water squars that are basically empty are processed simplified but that slows everything down with a lot of water.

One thing is sure, drawing up the clipboard costs a lot of fps.

Oh I dunno....  I have a lowly p4 1.4 w/ 128mb nvidia card, and 512MB of RDRAM.  It's not like i'm trying to run this game on a p2 450 w/ a 32mb card w/ 64mb of ram.

I understand my system is a bit dated, and yeah, one of these days soon when I no longer have to pay my attorney 30/grand a year for this terrible divorce im' in, I will have the xtra for a new system.  BUT what is being pointed out is probably more "code" or "poorly designed maps" as opposed to our computers.

Big maps, small maps, I still have the same limited range that my FE has to process.  the ? is WHY the big maps are so much rougher on fps.  they should be the same as small maps.  It's a most excellent question.
