I have a bunch of auctions that completed. Two people that have won now are sending me BS excuses how they can't purchase the items they bid up and won. Other than negative feedback, is there anything I can do to relist without getting charged again?

If you posted a line such as, "Must receive payment within seven days of the end of auction" then wait that long and then relist the item when it is over.

If not, then politely ask to have payment within a certain number of days. If they don't agree to it, politely ask them why they won't pay up. If they go off again with excuses, tell them they have X number of days to pay or the item will be relisted. Save a copy of your conversations/e-mails/whatever just in case.

But, I've never sold anything on ebay. This is just what I've seen people do in these situations.

Aren't you obligated to pay once you've decided to bid? Thought I saw that regulation some where on ebay.

Are they flat out saying they wont pay or some other bad excuse? There is a link under My Ebay under the "related links" column on the left side that says "unpaid item disputes". There you follow the steps and it will tell you how to get your listing fees back for the auctions. I use it whenever someone dont pay and it has worked so far.

You are supposed to since when you bid on something and win it, it creates a contract between the purchaser and the seller. Failure to successfully complete the transaction by paying for the item in question can and will result in permanent suspension of the bidder on the 3rd (third) non paying bidder complaint that ebay receives on the user.

wow that sounds legal, dont it?

I don't know if they still do, but Ebay used to have a Second Chance Offer option, where you can offer it to the second highest bidder in the case of a deadbeat highest bidder.

Thanks for the info. This one wrote

"Dear seller, I'm sorry to inform you that I cannot purchase this product
because of financial problems, please email back and tell me necessary
procedures to take to cancel (if possible) this. thanks"

Relist the item,and give them negative feedback with an explanation.

Make sure you bar them from bidding on any future auctions you have(I'm pretty sure you can do this).

About all you can do with that one is pretty much tell him that you will be filing a non paying bidder complaint with ebay which may result in your account being suspended. Sometimes that will work into making them pay. Other times pretty much all you can do is just file the report and neg feedback.

Sunking-

This happens all too often. Out of every 10 auctions I do, 1 does not pay.

On the left hand side of the "My Ebay Page" is a link called "Report an unpaid item"

Simply click here and enter the auction number.

E-bay will send the buyer a notice. This usually gets their attention.

However, if they still fail to pay after something like 3 days, you go to the link below it called "Unpaid item disputes".

This will show you all the unpaid auctions you've reported.

If it's beyond the time frame e-bay sets, you can close the dispute.

The buyer gets a mark on their e-bay record (Not negative feed, thats up to you to leave). If they get a certain number of marks, they get their account suspended.

More importantly, YOU GET A REFUND for your e-bay fees if you close the dispute and they did not meet their buyer obligations.

I sell vehicles on eBay for a nationwide dealership, that is how I earn a living these days.

You can a should report the non-paying users i.d. to eBay after a 2 week period. 3 hits as a non-payer and they are banned for life from eBay.

If you have someone hit the but it now price then waffles on you eBay will relist the item for no charge. List your item for what you expect to get for it and stick to that price. For autos I set my reserve only $200.00 below my buy it now price. If someone hits reserve the buy it now option goes away.

When someone places a bid on eBay they are in effect signing a legal purchase agreement. So on a big ticket item you could take them to court but for most of us that's not possible. So I just report them as a non-payer and eventually they'll go away.
