Salute,

I've used a MS Force Feedback 2 for almost four years, and I have nothing to complain about it.

A week ago I upgraded my whole system and got windows 2000 (and updated to SP4). Since then my MS FF2 lost its "return to center tension" when I play AH2. Before I log in the game, it runs fine, after I log in and take off, there's no more "tension".

I tried to uninstal the original driver and use the win 2K driver, but to no avail.

Any idea on how to solve this problem?

My system is:

OS: Windows 2000 (SP 4)
Mobo: A7N8X-Deluxe
CPU: AMD Sempron 2.8Ghz
VC: FX5200 128Mb
512Mb DDR400
Controls: MS Sidewinder FF2 and CH Throttle.

since you have win 2000 i think like XP you shouldnt need to load a driver for the MSFF2. go into the stick set up undercontrol panel!
I have te same mobo and practicaly the same set up but use XP pro.

if you have alot of things running on the USB channels try unpluggins one or two. I seem to get interferance if i have my USB web cam plugged in at the same time i have my stick plugged!
Since i rarely use the cam i just leave it unplugged! but it could be something else interfering! Try and reistall / updated the USB drivers too!

Firstly I loaded the FF2 driver (CD). When I noticed the issue, I unplugged stick, uninstalled the driver, rebooted and then just plugged it in. Win2K recognized it as MS Sidewinder FF2 prefectly, but the problem still goes on. As soon as I take off, all "return to center tension" vanishes (X and Y axis).

I have no other USB devices plugged in.

I'm gonna look for USB drivers, but I think they just exist to Win98 and ME (at least I just found them on ASUS download Helper: USB 2.0 driver for Win98, and WinME).

Well, I couldn't find any USB driver for Win2K or XP.

Does anyone have an idea on how to solve the FF2 "tension"? Please...

Just another information regarding the "return to center" issue.

If I disable all forces, return to center works fine.

It looks like an AH bug

Howdy Bockko!!!

It's been hard: if I use forces, stick is just a limp noodle, but at least I have stall alert, trim, guns (learned to fly with them, and they are very useful). If I disable all forces the return to center works fine, but that's harder to fly once I don't have any clue on what's going on (plane's envelope).

I have preferred to use forces even losing RTCT (return to center tension)...

have you switch the USB port your plugging into?

that whole senario seems wierd to me ! mine works fine on the same MOBO and OS. i did adjust some forces in AH but thats preferance!

i would say un plug reboot plug in goto Game Controllers panel and set it up /check it . test the forces in windows..........then start AH and calibrate it there too!

Yes boxboy, I tried all the six USB ports I have on my system...

As soon as I plug the USB cable in one port, it recognizes the device as Sidewinder Force Feedback 2, so I don't have the opportunity to manually install it. I checked System icon on control panel and it shows the josytick as "Human interface USB device". Tried to update the driver asking to check on "Windows Update", but it says I already have an appropriate driver.

I can't even try force feedback on windows, cause the properties window don't show any "forces" tab. It just shows "Test" and "Config" tabs.

Just asserting I had installed the latest NVidia NForce drivers...
