Is flying backwards cheating??
« on: January 19, 2005, 07:31:59 AM »
this is probably the most gamey thing i have come up with, but imagine perfecting this and actually being able to hit people. it is a 'move' (lose term) designed to clear a guy off your six. within 1 1/2 seconds turning 180 degrees and shooting him

would be a step up from WT's reversal move, and would put levi in his place cos even on your six he isnt safe :lol

http://www.freeroleentertainment.com/files/new_trix.ahf

the first one is sloppy, none are perfect. the internal view one is the best, or maybe the last one.

If it was pulled off it would be incredible and hugely amusing.

better still, imagine the whines!!  wow.

watch it (only a tiny .ahf file, seconds to d/l) and tell me how stupid i am.

edit: oh, but dont try it with less than 500ft under you :D

I've didn't watch the film, but a while back someone showed me this "tailslide" thing.. you could literally swing the tail around and shoot someone right behind you as you stalled.  This is horizontally, not vertically.

I've since forgotten exactly how it was done, it was pretty neat though.  Worked really well in the A6M's.

That move could be a nasty suprise...  Also looks like a good way to have someone overshoot.

yep, that was me. Start a shallow turn left or right.. Then abruptly apply rudder in the direction you are turning, and aileron in the opposite direction.

It will stall you in mid-air and make you turn around in a circle. Once you get the hang of it, you can sometimes take a shot or two as they pass you.

man - I though this was going to be the film of the planes you're chasing doing 300 holding steady distance at 1k - then their icon range starts going  d800....d600...d400.....till you end up in a HO merge with a plane that you've been chasing that never turned...

oh well - cool trick :)

i have no idea what you mean waffle, but im curious to find out....any chance you find that film post it :)

try this one out for yourself anyone.

SpitV, 50% fuel.

fly level at 220mph, a very slight climb, then hard right rudder, hard left aileron and hard back on the stick all together and very sharp.

as you spin past 100 degrees, hit full left rudder whilst keeping the ailerons the same and putting elevs in neutral possition. this should bring your nose round to 180degrees behind you. then spray and pray :)

after this, commence standard spin recovery.  if you are good you can return to level flight losing very little E or altitude. (very gamey, sure its not possible in RL)

if you get it right the total time from level flight-180 turn-level flight can be as little as 3-4 seconds.

I think me and Estes,  or Urchin..  We were trying to perfect this move a few times in the DA,  i even gave it a name at the time :D ..  This was back in AH1,  and the move itself could be used as an advantage,  except it would slow you down immensely,    but in the advantage aspect,  it can help and it CAN work if done right..

ManeTMP is the master of this move, he has gotten a snapshot on me several times doing this. It's really gamey, this is an exploit of an imperfect flight model, there is virtually no E-loss doing this, which is rediculous.

First time he kicked it over he was going forward at roughly 220 and then he's looking the other way.

Gotta believe the strain on the pilot would be incredible if it was possible at all.

Seemed a bit wierd.

Yea, I see the speed drop, but notice next to know altitude is lost and the speed drop is small and only as a result of the full rudder/aileron kick. The 360 degree stall spin itself doesn't seem to effect his speed or altitude to any significant degree...I'll try to film ManeTMP when he does it, he does it better than this guy, there's virtually no E-loss the way he does it. It looks alot like the stick-stir floppy-fish (tm) warp when done really well, except the guy always ends up on your 6 with his E intact firing away.

It is kind of hard to describe what our "old" move looked like... it was almost like the guy stopped in midair and rotated.

I'll watch this film, my curiosity is piqued, especially from Zazen's whining about it.
