I have seen it posted here and two friends told me today.  Good luck on getting the rebate.  I was so close to buying this when they had the case included.

i emailed my best friend, he called less than a minute later telling me to avoid tiger direct like the plauge.  I held off the purchase...

apparently he got screwed by tiger.

The socket game simply sucks. You need to be really careful with the hardware nowadays, if the socket is right is the bus speed supported etc.

It seems that 754 was just a pain in the butt (I bought one.)

OK, it would appear that some believe that they have a 3400+ 939 pin processor.  If you get the chance, would you please run the CPUZ program (can be found at CPUID website) and see how your cpu is identified, what core, what process (.90 or 1.30) and what the highest mutiplier is?  I saw the 3400+ at Newegg about 4-6 months ago, but it quickly disappeared.  If you got this cpu from Newegg, I'd be curious to know what they sent you.

Your right.  However its a 754 pin cpu...not the rare and exotic 939 pin processor that tiger direct has for sale.  Admittedly, the pins are fragile, so maybe it can be forced onto a 939 socket.  Just use wire cutters to snip off anything that hangs out. =)

Darn you're right. I saw a socket 939 A64 3400 OEM on newegg last night. Obviously it was a mistake, they took it down quickly.

In bold red letters under the specifications it read something along the lines that it could only be purchased with a suitable motherboard.

AMD dual cores when they come out may work with some current 939 MBs but will require bios upgrade.....obviously....I have been told....

I believe the 754 config also...
