What to do when being attacked in a c47
« on: February 07, 2000, 01:38:00 AM »
We've all been in this situation:  An enemy is bearing down on you, because you are flying a c47, there is little you can do besides scream HELP!!!! about 4 times on the country channel.

Well, here you go, this is what to do:

1:  On the open channel tell the opposing pilot that you are just on a scouting mission.

2:  Paint a big red "+" on the side and claim it's a medical run.

3:  Tell the opposing country that you spotted some sick sheep on your last run, and you are carrying 10 vets to help them.

4:  Throw stuff out of the plane when the con approaches. (beer cans work well)

5:  When the con closes to within 1k, roll inverted and pull back on the stick as hard as you can.  With any luck the opposing pilot will be so impressed with the huge crater you just made in the ground, he will follow you in.

6:  Claim you forgot to bring troops.

7:  Attempt to collide with him.

8:  If the enemy gets REALLY close, let a trooper out.  (This may actually work, although I'd hate to see it.)

9:  Ditch at the last second before the enemy fires at you.  (This always annoys them.)

10:  If all else fails, type HELP until your fingers are numb.

Did I forget anything...

You can always push the drunks out the door and hope the enemy collides with one of 'em.

If you do, push 'em all out though, or you'll have trouble making it home without getting tossed out yourself.

Try and make the enemy auger. You may be a big, slow plane but you should be able to outturn just about any fighter. Make them stall in thier eagerness to get at you.
And if you die, reup this time with fighter escort

I can make them miss if they are fast, but ussually only on the first pass they make.  I do this by a well time 3 cycle scissor.  The C-47 will not have the E to perform two scissors.

Try it, and good luck!

I can't say for the current version, but several versions back I turned a gooney bird with a spit and lived (he ran out of ammo), then started turning with a pony trying to egress.  After about 5 minutes the pony got me cause I pulled too hard in a turn and stalled.  In that few seconds he got around enough to get his guns on me.  Was alot of fun =)

I dont know about being atacked in a c47, but when I am attacked by a c47 I usualy try to lure him into an HO...If after the merge I am still standing I will go for a  horizontal Yo Yo... that gets 9 ot ot 10 ubergoon pilots, but if it doesnt remember the door!
Some of them leave their rear right doors open.. This is their achilles heel....Put some cannon rounds in the door and plug your ears...

I too have gotten the enemy to auger at times.  I've done it twice this tour already, but I only got credit for one of them.  (Someone had already put a few rounds into the other.)  The only real defense is to try to get them to overshoot, while at the same time being incredibly close to the ground.

Bloom25-

Bend over, grab ankles, kiss oscar goodbye. Once a goon is spotted (without escort, and often even with) it's curtains.
