Compare of PF and AH P38
« on: January 21, 2005, 10:59:00 AM »

Imho not much of a difference.

The light effect seen on the AH picture is there in PF as well, just didnt get it caught on screenie. Shells are there on both. The biggest difference imho is that the spinners are better on the PF model, could be skin related though.

But this is damn close to PF graphics..

Very good job HTC.

It IS good.   Very close to each other.    And at game distances the differences are unimportant.

PF terrain and clouds look more realistic to me though.    Not sure what it is.

I'm curious if the charger movement will be visable or will it be freeze framed as we have now?

Ohh one thing I forgot to say... PF does NOT have the smoke effects AH has... ;)

Lets only talk about the planes and not clouds and terrain atm... lets wait with comparing them till the new TE is out and we have maps based on it.. ;)

I definately prefer the look of the AH2 P38's engines.  The intake on them is impeccable.

maybe this question has already been asked and answered elsewhere, if so I apologise. But: will there be movement of the controls, as in the Frank? (i.e. the rudder peddals, throttle, stick)

Slimm, all new "remodeled" planes (anything from now on) will have moving controls like the b24/ki84. They just need to go through one by one and upgrade all current models to modern standards

You would not see the prop cuff openings in the spinners anymore than you would see the props themselves. So, the PF version is not accurate in that respect.

And what's the deal with that massive amount of brass being ejected from the PF P-38 ? That's 10 seconds of brass....

Not only that, but Natedog has better captured the shape and lines of the P-38. Natedog's elevator counter weights are a tad too tall. Unlike the PF version, the AH plane lacks the pitot tube and HF radio antenna wiring (can still be added).

All in all, the AH P-38L is the better of the two, IMHO.

the pf models have a slickness that i dont find apealing, as well as the cockpits, they are not even in full 3d, the planes look like they are in a show room not in a war.

what detail setting was that in for the pf screen shot?  I bet the  ah p38 would play alot smoother than the pf one fps wise, on the same medium grade pc at a matched graphics quality.

Natedogs' is looking damn sexy! im just hoping the cockpits arnt butchered too much so that ppl who still use hats can see all the guages in the standard view.

As long as the  cantine of "hellfire" is still on board ill be content tho :)

FYI P38 was released 2 years ago in AEP add-on for IL2 series. So you are comparing AH model that yet to be released to 2 year old IL2 model.

Why don’t you compare second screenshot?

Can't judge em by a jagged screenshot, gotta get in the game and fly em. The Il-2 P38 cockpit feels like a tight fight, awesome illusion of being inside one of these planes. Their shuddering effect is incredible.  I hope AH2 captures that feeling.
