why compare at all? either you like it or you don't

if one likes that other sim p38 then go fly it,  if you like the terrain graphics then go fly it, this is Aces high so you should talk about Aces high things, especially in the General Discussion area.reagardless if it is positive or negative    ..save that other sim comparison talk for one of the other forums


Natedog  and crew has done an outstanding job on the 38L.............gun smoke, ejecting shells and the pilot does not look like he is falling out of the side of the cockpit

why are the people that talk down about things even here if they think it is  so outdated?  or if they think the FM is off, or the gameplay is bad? why sit around on your computer complaining on the Aces high boards, just go to that other sim where you think it is so much better....................... ..

The light effect seen on the AH picture is there in PF as well, just didnt get it caught on screenie. Shells are there on both. The biggest difference imho is that the spinners are better on the PF model, could be skin related though.

But this is damn close to PF graphics..

the AH2 P-38L captures the look of the real p38. can't wait to see it in the game. even the low poly ah1 version captured the look of it now its perfect.

the il2/pf p38 is a misproportioned POS anddoes not capture the look of the real p38. and gibage (the 3d modeller that made the Il2/PF p38 is a self righteous pompous arnoldh0le.)

Maybe its just me, but the AH 38 looks more realistic.

That Il2 one looks jaggedy and Arcadeish. (I know, I know its a game) But AH's looks more real to me anyway.

But then again, I hate Il2..All the pretty graphics in the world wouldn't make me play that game. Controls suck.

Reason I posted the compare was that in many cases Il-2 series is seen as state of the art WW2 sim graphics....

Im not really that keen in their graphics though as they do look a bit tooo cartoonish to me...

The comparing was more to show that the new stuff we are getting is very close to what is considerd (by many) state of the art WW2 sim graphics...

What you compared was an IL2 screen shot with no AA and the graphic detail set to low. Its looks like crap but even in that screen shot it compares well with AH2. I certainly wouldn't call you Il2 screen shot an example of 'state of the art'. Il2 P-38 is 3 years old, from the looks of that SS you graphics card is at least as old.

Some of you seem so blinded by fan boi'ism I bet if HT posted a pile of steaming dog crap with wings on it folks would come out claim how fantastic it looks and try to compare it to Il2.

The guy that modeled the P-38 for IL2 is an stunninghunk as Cit says, and he made plenty of errors not just on the P-38 but other planes he modeled.

While AH2 planes do look better then AH1 they certainly aren't 'better then Il2' but they don't need to be. Nobody flies with externals in AH anyway, I know you don't want to post cockpit comparisons.

AH is a great game on its own despite the exaggerations...

Il2 just has an excellent lightning system and the colours are more bright.

apparently you are not familiar with what I find to be an acceptable 3d model. if you knew you would surely know I am not one to say its looks good and perfectly accurate when it does not.

Sure I am, I have read enough of your critiques but that has nothing to do with my point.

This thread is a comparison of Il2's P-38L and AH2's new P-38L. The originator of this thread posted a poor quality IL2 screen shot and used that to claim that the AH2 P-38L looks better then the old 'state of the art' Il2 P-38.

 While I admitted there are some inaccuracies to the Il2 model they are minor and most lay persons can't tell the difference. There are inaccuracies in the AH models as well. That's a far cry from what this thread is about.

I am not pissing on AH either, its a great game and new planes look really good. I just don't think there's any reason for comparisons and exaggerations. But if you are so inclined to make comparisons at least compare the 2 at their best.
