A different GeForce FX 5700 problem
« on: January 23, 2005, 09:43:02 AM »
Not a major thing--built new box, now have Asus m.b. with a Athlon 3200 cpu, (already had FX 5700)went from win98 to XPsp2---game woulnt launch at all until I put the correct drivers in for dial-up modem (were 98 drivers) Game now runs like a champ, frames in 50's to 60's-- 2 minor things: planes's shadow ALways flickers...alternates between normal and white--REAL annoyance in gv's...Other thing--if I alt-tab out of game..usualy get blue screen of death when I come back in

(have newest drivers for FX5700.. 1 gig ram on box)

When you say "newest drivers", do you mean the 66.97 drivers?  The ones you can download from Nvidia right now?  Dont use them.  Unless you have a 6600 or better, that needs these new drivers, stay with the 61.77 drivers.  No one I know with one of the 5xxx series Nvidia cards is having good luck with the newest drivers.  I've tried the last few days running them myself, and its constant lockups, crashes, and even a BSOD in WindowsXP.  I rolled mine back to the older ones last night, finally deciding settings have nothing to do with it.  There's just flat out an incompatibility somewhere with these drivers.
