Fine, demand next time you go to the fancy restaurant down the street that you get the nutritional values on a sticker right ontop of the food you order.

Exactly.  Most people are simply not aware enough to quantify just how bad this stuff is for you from a daily % of  calorie intake perspective.  This is why I find the marketing of supersize products which add hundreds of additional calories from huge portion increses of fries and sodas (fat and simple carbs} in a single meal to be so outrageus.

Sit down restaurants could have a simple calorie indicator on the menu, next to the prices.

Why do you oppose this so much?  Why are you against providing people witrh the information that could help them make more healthful choices while encouraging competition between fast food coimpanies to provide healthier alternatives?

American food is designed to make people fat. I don't know if it's a result of the corn lobby and the high fructose corn syrup in so many things and other ingredients and fortifications.

There was a time in america when everybody drank regular fatty milk and ate red meat every day. Everybody drove everywhere.  And nobody but children jogged or rode bikes, and there were no such things as health club or gym memberships. And yet americans were much much less fat.

What's different? Our foods have the same names but not the same ingredients as it once did.

How many of you americans who have lived abroad lost weight when you were overseas even though your habits didn't change? I'm betting all of us.

Enlarged portion sizes, higer intakes of fats and simple carbohydrates (refined sugars) combined with lower physical activity are whats making Americans fat.

Adult should be able to recongnize the risk involved and make an informed decision whether or not to eat McFood.

The same is true with cigarettes and liquor.

...but, unlike liquor and cigarettes we still allow the advertising of McCrap directly to children.

The bean counters are lovin it.

I'm not against it.  I'm against holding McDonalds responsible for stupid people's choices.

Like I said, we should enforce the voting thing.

When you have your meal already purchased and in front of you is not the ideal time to find out what nutritional value is.  All fast food resturaunts have nutritional value available, just ask them before you order.  Or better yet, visit their web site...hell, go to Taco Bell's web site - they have a nutritional calculator that goes so far as letting you build your meal and deselect ingredients in an item if you plan on ordering it that way.

If an individual can't find the nutritional value of any fast food place today, it's because they didn't look.  If an individual doesn't know what percent of their daily values a Big Mac meal is, then it's their own damned fault for not educating themselves.

And in case you're interested, here's the nutritional info on a Big Mac meal with large fries and a large Coke.  It took me all of 30 seconds to pull this up on their web site.  Clicking on the plus by each item gives you a breakdown by  major part (patty/cheese/etc).  Clicking on more details gets you more nutritional info, a list of all the ingredients, and allergy & food sensitivity info.

Three Times One Minus One.  Dayum!

We are talking about a nice scooby snack 'Mickey D' hamburgler and fries at lunch time kids meal, not injesting a bag of tainted Hep C blood or my wifes pigs foot crock pot special where a seemingly normal human naws at the pig knuckles like Jeffrey Dahmer on a african american stove top teenage rampage, right?

There should be a pack of smokes and an airplane sized bottle of JD included.  Then it would truely be a happy meal.

I didn't really have a point Creamo.  Leave me alone.

Why the "Wow?"  Why the surprise.

But surely you knew how many calories there are in fries? Because all people know that when they order MCD, right?

Or maybe you just knew they were vaguely "bad for you"  but you are surprised to learn just how bad they are when its actually quantified...

Now just imagine this is only for the Large size fries, super size were even a bigger portion with many more calories

You are surprised about the massive calorie count because you had no damn clue about it, contrary to your claims of knowing its "baD" for you.

Thanks for proving my point NUKE!

SOB people are embarassed to ask how many calories and in the curse of the day are too busy to look it up and many many are still not inbternet savvy. It's much easier to get that info if it was placed on wrappers at the point of sale/consumption. You are a big fat obese guy. Next time you go to MCD ask the girl behind the counter how many calories are in the Big Mac meal, fries, a big soda and two apple pies.

Would people just read the wrapper and drop the burger at the first time, hell no. But having that info there will, over time, lead to greater knowledge and conscious awareness of how many calories and % of daoliy intake is in that meal which is much more likely to change eating patterns and thus menu offerings.

It's your choice to get a Double Quarter Pounder Value Meal (1560 C, 65 gms fat) or a Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken (200 C, 9 gms fat)

Your choice.
