depends on how close you drop (close to tartet, yes). you really want to judge buy where you plane would crash at when you release, thats where your bombs will hit.

Never did a completely vert divebomb before I'm usually a little greater than 45degrees and pickle with the target just under the crosshairs. I would think a vertical dive could make it harder to actually hit the target, If you were perfectly perpindicular to the ground I would put it in the middle of the sight, would have to be perfect though. I say give yourself some room and dive less than 90degrees to the horizon and let her go between the crosshairs and nose.

Your best bet is to email me at home, I'll send you an editted for 1.08 Mitsu gun site with a rocket and bomb pickle, set for a 60-80 degree dive.  With practice, you can put a bomb right on the ying yang.

I do all my dive bombing from a 0-G dive and its very accurate, you just need to be a good judge of distance and as i stated before where you would crash if you just let go of your stick, thats where your bombs hit.

More cute angles are effective as well but  IMO its more difficult.

Also VGhost make sure you cut throttle before starting down, personaly i make sure im going slow before i nose down. Another personal prefernce of mine is to fly inverted over the target to line up before starting to dive. around 3k above the target is where i like to release. closer than that and you can use the aiming point, just make sure that you have your true heading and your not making your plane stay in the aimed posistion buy letting off the stick for a second before you drop. The wind should catch you and hold the proper course.

but dropping that low is dangerous, you can either catch some of the blast or have a hell of a time pulling out.

Good luck VGhost

I was one who for the life of me could not hit anything with bombs or rockets. Someone has a training film of how to use rockets and how to dive bomb. I like to start about 8k and slow just above target. looking left/forward just wait until target is tucked in where your wing and body of the plane intersect. Invert roll to about 70 deg dive, no power. Roll upright keeping reticle on target release bombs at about 3k. I have a gunsight that works perfect and will try to post it. By the way are you Rook? I wouldnt want Bish or Nits to get any secret info. I also have a gunsight that works perfect for any Bish or Nit. I will send it to ya special.
Cya up there

Not sure if it was my training films posted in the HELP bbs, but *apparently* those do not work with this new version anymore(or do they?)  I'll try to knock some new ones out over the next few weeks.

THanx for posting this VGhost - was coming in here to do just that myself.
Was divebombing a lightly defended rook base in an F6F but had no idea if I was lining up properly or not.  Usually didn't survive the AAA as I was pulling out  :)
Is it advisable to fire rockets at high alt (above 3k) or hold them till a closer range?

Awulf

much much closer than 3k bud, 1k is pushing it.

i try to get in REAL close for rockets, just not to close because they do proxy damage.

If you want a good time, fly a jug and type ".salvo 10" (shoots 10 at once for those who dont know, same for all ordinance) and come in low/slow 45' on a hanger and shoot.. BANG!!!!.. hehe such fun.
