There are few things in this game more iratating than to take the time to fly all the way back to base, just to find out there is no runway. If it has been bombed ok. But I have taken out runways by accident wile shooting at a con. you should not be able to take out a runway by strafing it. Or at least it should take a heck of alot more ammo.

In truth, calling any safe landing at your own base, a ditch. Makes no sense.

TT On the last release I shortened down time of runways to 4 mins. I Also made them harder to kill.

Err, guess I'm not popular opinion here, but I'd rather see the destroyed runways (and general non-paved terrain) have some bump and bounce to it, enough that you'd only attempt to land there in an emergency.

As for strafing it, I think several thousand rounds of 20mm would mess a runway up a bit (but I'd agree it goes too easily.)

Does anybody else find it silly that the runways DISAPPEAR when damaged?  Pretty fake no?

Think about this one guys, how on earth can a fighter destroy a paved runway using only guns to the point of it being out of commission?  Try this:  Grab a machine gun and go shoot the road in front of your house as many times as you want and tell me if it will no longer function as a road.    Not only that, but does the road ever disappear after you shoot it?    IMO I think it would be better to have big craters where bombs hit that you must steer around when landing/taking off.

Just my 1/50th of a dollar.

Yeah,

Im with bloom.  Craters should cause disruption.  Disappearing RW and accompanying ditch seems kinda gamish.

Bloom's right .. i can recall a sim that had this feature

and having to steer clear of the craters would make low level bomb runs across a field with a full salvo drop a bit more rewarding
