New Patch Crashes
« on: January 29, 2005, 04:48:01 PM »
I loaded the new patch and it crashes as soon as I click on Main Arena.

It seems like several other people have had this same problem.  Skuzzy had an update to update sound drivers.  I tried that with no luck.

Has anybody had this problem and then found a solution?

I CTD as soon as I click on OFFLINE, or ONLINE/Main.

I tried rebooting.

I tried updating my sound card.

I *do* believe I saw an installation error (debris.wav).

Perhaps I should try reinstalling.

What a pain in the ass.

Same happened to me, and I also got the "missing" debris.wav message.
You smell that? Do you smell that?
Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
The smell, you know that gasoline smell, smelled like victory.

It's the same for me.  During the patching, I got an error message that debris.wav couldn't be opened.  After the patch I started AH and watched the Preload Tex Memory with all the .tca files.

Then I get a crash to desktop before it completes. Watching it over again it's always the same 3 files in the update that kick me: WLDCYMP_512.TCA, WXTREP12_512.TCA, and XTC1_512.TCA.

Theres a thread in Tech Support about this too.

I downloaded the .EXE file from the website and have ended by CTD problem.

Now I'm just suffering from micro-hangs.

So far, I'm not a big fan of this patch.

Patch didn't crash, but I do get the "missing" debris.wav message at the end of the install.  I ran it a second time and got the same thing.

I was trying update from 2.01 patch 6 to 2.02 patch 1 using

http://downloads.hitechcreations.com/AH2016T2021.EXE

I get the debris.wav upgrade error.

My guess is that debris.wav came with 2.02 and now patch1 is trying to upgrade it....but 2.01 ppl don't have it.

probably nothing but a squaddie of mine had a similar problem.

he changed his firewall settings and it worked fine.

maybe run a check to see if firewalls are blocking certain updates?

i had problems with the new lightnings and the film viewer. trying full reinstall from scratch now to see if it helps.
And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

OK, UPDATE.

fresh reinstall of AH2 from scratch did the trick.
but it was not the problem.

as i loaded my old files in one by one i realised it was the old gunsights on waffle's expansion that made the P38s crash.

go into your gunsights options in the hanger and set them as something else, it will work fine after.

the film viewer is still porked for me.

does it have anything to do with AGP apeture size?
