History in the making in Iraq
« on: January 29, 2005, 09:54:16 PM »
In about 10 minutes, free elections begin in Iraq.

I have been following FOX news for about 2 hours. This is exciting and I really feel this is a great, historic time for the Iraqi people.

I'm praying for the people of Iraq and hope you can spare one or two prayers too. This is a huge moment in the history of the middle east and for the people of Iraq.

The election is gonna be rough in places, I think we can count on the insurgents hitting some of the polling places. Hopefully that wont deter Iraqi's from going to the polling places though.

I'm with you Nuke, the Iraqi's have an opportunity here. We'll see how they choose :)

Heh, until this thread it was like nobody even noticed.

I chalked it up to one side bracing for carnage, and the other entertaining the idea that the election isn't really going to change very much.

Ahhh shookie who saw the predator video of the green zone attack. Man we need armed ones flying over the base. Stop those kind of things before they start even setting up.

nash I get the sense you hope the election ends in disaster.  Would'nt be surprised if that was the case.

I wonder. If this free Iraq thing happens, what will the free Iraqis  think of the efforts of countries like France, Germany, Canada, and Spain to help make it happen.

Polls have been open for two hours.  Three polling places have been bombed...one was leveled...and yet there were NO casualties.

Let's hope that's as bad as it gets.

Reports are that the voting turnout is heavy.

Foxnews
Over the past 24 hours, insurgents carried out attacks on polling stations in major cities across the nation, according to senior military officials, who said the Iraqi police and army are responding to calls at a much higher rate than expected. In one case, a man attempted to carry out an attack on a horse.

Why did the man attack a horse?  I'm calling PETA.
