The carrier dissapears? Try enabling or disabling the PALLETE feature on the VIDEO options.
To land on a carrier is easy..and even easier if you have a plane with a tail hook.
Line up with the cv (the BACK of the CV of course!), with about 2k alt, and lower your throttle. You need to have your plane at about 120 mph when you land, so do your best to slow down to that.
Trim the elevator to the bottom (to avoid it pulling your nose up and stalling you), and drop full flaps. I usually raise my point of view so that I can keep sight of the cv tower (it helps you see if you are still aligned with cv).
When you hit the deck with your wheels, cut the engine.
