P38 graphic bug
« on: January 30, 2005, 11:40:29 AM »
Was flying the P38J then switched to the P38L....the plane was correct in that the Skin was of the L model...but the Cockpit was still the "J" model.
Edited
Upon further examination this appears to be intentional.
But why not leave the L as it was?
No reason to change something that players have gotten used to. Its like an old pair of shoes.

99.5% of the player base is happy you did what you did, HTC.

Ignore the last 0.5%...

Shees...I didnt mean to hurt anyones feelings.
"Flame" is a strong word for my expressing my personal preference.
I take back everything i said. Sorry to hurt anyones feelings.
For the record.
Mugz Hates change period! Once i have adjusted to something i get pissed when it is changed. Why? because it make little since to me. No "I" dont like the P38L having the more limited view than it did before. Updating 38L cockpit is fine. But i realize that it is easier to use the same cockpit for both the 38L and the 38J and i don't blame HTC for doing it.
Thats just me. I shoulda thought before i spoke.
Sorry again.

Ah ........... Mugzee ......... I think HT was joking.  I think it just took him by surprise that after a year of everyone (ok NOT everyone lol) clamoring for updated this and better looking that, someone would come out and say "No reason to change something players have gotten used to."

Just sayin man, if you really felt strongly about it, maybe you could have said something in one of the 30 or 40 threads about updating the P38 that have been floating around for the last few months lol.

I have flown all 3  P-38 models, and with the exception of certain guages in the cockpit, I like each of them, and the differences between the models are noticeable as well. Therefore IMO HT gets high points for accuracy as well as everything else having to do with this patch.

The P-38J-10-Lo SHOULD have the same cockpit and views as the P-38L-5-Lo. Externally and from the cockpit, the planes are the same, with the exception of the dive flaps.

If the views and such from the old L were wrong, even if they were more advantageous, then I'm glad they were changed.

The only REAL complaint I have is that certain parts of the instruments are not legible at the resolution I use, and the instruments themselves are very dark and hard to read. In that sense, they are not like the real thing, at least not the P-38L-5-Lo I sat in.

I can agree with that regarding instruments.

But Im so pleased with the additions that I wont mention that.  Nor will I mention that the engine 1 throttle moves independently, but #2 throttle moves both in the cockpit.  Nor the yoke conflicting with the armored glass in some positions in the G model.  Nope, wont do it.  Dont want to ruin the moment.

In all seriousness  though, great work :)

Also, when you trim the P38 it moves the wheel when that shouldn't move it at all.
