new Omega drivers, old GeFarce card
« on: January 31, 2005, 11:58:56 AM »
I'm very hesitant to install new drivers since what I have does work. However, I've been having some serious problems with gunnery lately (especially since AH II version 2.02) and I'm willing to take a shot at swapping drivers to get better performance in hopes of at least maybe seeing what I might be doing wrong.

I have on older GeFarce 3 Ti 200 64MB 4x AGP card, on a Soltek SL75FRN2-RL board with an AMD Mobile 2500+ Barton, 512MB of PC4000 DDR, and a Raptor RAID HD system. I'm running Windows 2K Pro. My current drivers, on the advice from Skuzzy when AH I was still up, are the 3x.xx series official drivers.

Anyone know if the new Omegas will work, and if they will give me better performance?

I'm going to build a new system later this year, and send this one to college with my daughter, so I don't really want to waste money on a new AGP card, when I'll be going PCI Express on the next rig.

The old g3 cards are very picky about their drivers, if you have one that works well you should stick with it. FYI I installed the newest omega driver for my ti4200 to check it out and lost performance over the latest invidia driver.

Thanks. Not what I wanted to hear, but what I needed to know.

I'm running a Ti-4200 with a Athlon 64 3200+ (my cpu fan died last month and system cooked)...I have the current driver loaded and its OK...but I think a small step back from my older drivers. I get ~58 fps at default with very little drop....but I think I was getting more with my older 2500+ barton core before.

The current Nvidia WHQL driver or the current omega driver?
