Take a Ride in a Fighter?
« on: January 31, 2005, 01:09:34 PM »
My wife wants to get me a flight in some type of hot ride for my Birthday but is having a real hard time finding a place that does this.

I'd prefer a ride in some type of jet like an L-39 or something.

Anyone know any place that does this?

Thanks.

You can fly many different aircraft in russia if you have money. Mig will cost you 15K. Aerobatic, 1 hour flight in Yak52 will be about 140$. L39 cost about 600-1200$

Nuch we had an L-39 here at my base and they are very reliable aircraft, atleast the one we had was.  Our aircrews were using it for training flight test pilots.

I would want a ride in a jet if it went to 80,000 feet and mach3 or Id rather get a ride in a wwii bird like that p-51. Prefable with a skilled lunatic in front.

Check this one out

http://www.natg.com/

I've actually flown in one of their Texans.  They do everything from basic rides to combat flight instruction, and even simulated dogfights in real planes.  The guns shoot blanks for noise and laser bursts for bullets.  Sensors on the other plane show any "hits" and smoke trailers come on if you hit them.  Each guy climbs to his starting zone, and then you have to find each other.  Just like the real thing.  You dont know where he is, what alt he's at, the only thing you know is the general area you meet in.  Expensive as heck, but .............

You can get a ride in a L-39 at Marathon airport (Florida Keys). Can't find a web site, but I saw the plane when I drove by and later saw an add in Key West. I think the price could have been as low as 600$ but I'm not sure.
