Bob Dylan and Merle Haggard, America's most spiritual descendants of Woody Guthrie, are hooking up for a U.S. tour.

Dylan and his band and Haggard and his band, the Strangers, will kick off the tour March 7 in Seattle. Dylan is following up last summer's critically acclaimed tour of minor league baseball parks with Willie Nelson.

Me thinks they will smoke marijuana in Muskogee.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Thanks for the Tip, RPM.
Wonder if they are just gonna keep it in US or if they will be moving over the pond as well?

Willie Nelson Didnt do very good during his last tour here (He was good, but didŽnt sell enough tickets).

Eh, I am gonna try to get Van the man and Bob for this summer, that would be neat, if Haggard wouldŽnt make it.

But no drugs, Van laid that off and joined AA.

this is what happens to washed up entertainers who can't come to grips with their own demise.

Weeping willie will be playing at the fair that is my little hick town this may.   pretty much admitting that he is bottom of the barrel.

Ya know Laz, that`s where you are wrong.
Willie has always played at small gatherings. He has played many, many places for free just to be entertaining.
He has also played at more benefits than most entertainers put together.

He has always done this and will clearly state that one of his favorite things to do is play in small town, small bars.
He has a habit of showing up at places like Lukenbach and Carl`s Corner and starting a jam session just because that`s what he likes to do.

no... weeping willie the washed up declined playing here last time over money issues.   He isn't playing here because it is old home week.   He is playing at a fair that is known to everyone as the bottom of the barrel... more of a carnival than a fair really.   Run down facility etc.

LOL Carl`s Corner and Lukenbach aint exactly Carnegie Hall. You would just have to understand Willie.
I wish I had his money problems. :D

well... I don't see him singing any tunes about "Dixon California, Waylon and Willie and the boys".

I don't know about his money really..  I do know that he was heavily indebt to the IRS at one time and I do know that I can't stand listening to the guy talk about himself or sing 3/4 of his crybaby crap.

Yep, agreed . I`ve always been  Rock n Roll , but the progressive Outlaw music  winds my clock also. Most of what is considered country nowadays is a far cry from it. Willie, Waylon and others put some fun and meaning back into it.
The Red Headed Stranger collection is awesome. Pancho And Lefty is great still today.
It`s not how they sing, but what they sing.
:D  Yea, you could say Willie was in debt to the IRS. He never was good with , nor did he have, good management as far as business wise goes.
Hell, they even took the golf course.
What did he have to say about this? He said to hell with it. It wasn`t about the money to begin with. He also said that they would just write a few songs and hit the road and buy it all back.
If I remember correctly within eight months he had cleared over 2 mil.
It certainly don`t hurt to be from Texas to be a Willie fan. Even if you don`t like his music, ya gotta love the guy. He`s a living legend.

Many of the Artists that has been going on touring for years, choose to performe in smaller venues, often seated.
They want the audience to sit still and listen to what they have to say, not to jump and scream.

These guy all more or less suffer from hearing lost and the volume can be kept down on stage in a smaller place with a calm audience.

The only bad thing is that many Promotors donŽt want to take the risks with smaller venues, higher ticketprices.
Exceptions to this is the "nonindependent" Artists that have been bought by Clear Channel.

Dont complain to much about Willie Nelson: If I remember correctly US Goverment more or less Own him and his doings/songs/recordings.

Lazs !!!!

Man you are a redneck reactionary  (and I wont say the rest as it would be too rude!). Get a life, open your mind, stop this mindless slavish devotion to guns and the way over to the right view of life. Frankly it comes accross as a bit dull I've heard it so many times.

Why do I get the feeling Laz threw his underware on stage and Willy threw it back? Juuuuuuuuuusssttttttttt kidding.

Some musicians/writers genuinely love to perform, money aside, hence they never wash up until they die. I really doubt Mick is playing to pay the rent.

No, Mick is not playing to pay his rent, heŽs playing to get chicks.
And to promote his own Music.
If they never toured, noone would buy their records, cause the newspapers wouldŽnt be writting about them nor Mick.

Eventully they would loose their Record contract and then just slowly die..............
One more trip of nostalgica and then hardly the local Pub would hire them for more then maybe free drinks.
